Thank you Santander & Skipton

All 4 of us had ISA's with Skipton maturing on 15 July. Had opened Major ISA's with Santander and sent in transfer forms. The money was available from Skipton on 16 July and appeared in each of our Santander ISA's on 18 July.

Have never done transfers before, only opened new accounts with new money. Having read other people's transfer problems, I was pleasantly surprised at the speed and efficiency of our transfers.

I just wanted to give praise where praise was due.

Santander, quite rightly, gets a lot of stick in the forum regarding its customer services but I have found in recent times that its ISA transfers are as good, if not better, than many other banks.

I have noticed some forumites have been put off Santander ISAs because of worries about customer service. Since ISAs rarely need any customer services, it's a pity that some may not be taking advantage of the good rates they currently offer.

I always think that it is good to highlight to companies when their service is below par. Hey I am with Santander and most of the time they are a nightmare.

Equally if a company does something right it is just as important to let them know. As I said they are a nightmare most of the time but their on line banking is fantastic and now it seams their ISA transfer is also impressive.
Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A
  • I've never had any of the hideous problems people come out with about Santander!

I have my real main current account with them (though I'm also a "main current account customer" with Nationwide, Halifax, HSBC and First Direct too!) I also have an E-saver, ISA and 2 credit cards with them.

If I was to work for a bank again (used to work for Natwest) I'd want it to be them, find their service fine and their rates are great on a lot of things.
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

If you do like it please hit the thanks button.

I like Santander too (most of the time) but lets not get carried away! Santander were receiving the money so I suspect the good work was by Skipton.. We need a case study of transfers away from Santander to really praise them!

Not all just down to Skipton. Santander received the transfer forms and dealt with them speedily and efficiently.

Equally, 2 days after the money was in each of our ISA accounts, we all received letters from Santander confirming the transfers had been completed.

DD has an ISA with Principality maturing at the end of the month. Let's see if this one is as quick and easy.

I am no great lover of Santander, but I do find their on-line banking so easy. Opening ISA's, upgrading esaver accounts, transfers are so simple. Over the years, myself, son and daughter have all had problems with Santander, which has resulted in quite decent amounts of compensation. However, certainly for us, things have improved, and we have not had a problem for some time now.

The Principality ISA matured on 31 July, with funds being available for transfer on 1 August. Principality posted the cheque on 2 August, and it was credited to the ISA account on 6 August.

Another good ISA transfer experience for us.

My wife and I recently had a large fixed rate bond maure with Santander.

Now I should add that there were no problems what so ever .

All due interest was added and the money transferred within the time stated.

We put the money elsewhere due to the fact we found a better deal.

Who knows we may even return to Santandter one day.
