I actually thought I lost the original paperwork for the parking sensors but I have just found it :j

That sounds like a good plan I will do that.

Thanks very much for your help Robisere and Sgt Pepper

It sounds like there may be a drain pipe that runs from a gutter above the boot out through a hole i nthe floor. The fitter may well have taken advantage of this hole in the floor as a route for the parking sensor wires, thus letting the boot fill with water.

If the wiring for the parking sensors runs though what should be a drain hole, it's pretty clear cut what has happened.

Ok so just as an update,

The parking sensor company have been out to inspect the car and have come to the conclusion that it has nothing to do with them. One reason being that the level of corrosion is such that it cannot have happened in such a short space of time, the other being that the wires do not appear to be obstructing the pipe in any way.

Now we have a whole new problem, when the company that fitted the sensors asked the Audi repair centre that has my car if there are any warranty repairs in the cars history Audi told them no. After doing their own research, they have found that warranty repair work was carried out on the car in January 2010. After doing my own investigations it turns out that there was a repair on the drain hoses in January 2010, the exact thing that has caused the damage in the first place. (Bear in mind that I only purchased the car in February so I had no idea)

I am getting extremely frustrated now because I feel Audi have sent me on some wild goose chase in the hope of someone else paying the bill for their poor warranty work that has actually caused the problem

As it was Audi who cause the problem do you think it is now them who should pay for the repair? The car is well out of its warranty period now but surely that is irrelevant considering the circumstances?

    Thanks

Top marks to the parking sensor company for looking, coming up with a very logical explanation, and not just denying it. Ever better for taking the time to set you on the right cause of the fault.
It's a shame a "reputable" company like Audi where so quick to try to shift the blame when presented with the same facts, and I'm surprised Aidi couldn't find out warranty work was done if a third party can.
As Audi have said the poor work is the direct cause of the fault, I would expect them to repair it foc.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. The parking sensor company have been really professional, sent someone out for a full inspection and have done all of their homework before passing all of the information on to me and advising me how to proceed.

As you say, its a shame a 'reputable' company like Audi have tried to shift the blame onto the parking sensor company who have in reality shown themselves to be far more competent. Shocking really. I certainly expect Audi to pay for the repairs, its just a case of whether they will accept that they are in the wrong or whether I will have to fight with them to accept liability.
