hi savers.
I am now out of contract, i am waiting for a new phone to be released, possibly in september, and want to reduce my costs in the eman time. i rang t-mob, they gave me a few offers for sim only contracts but was les allowance then currently have.
their last offer was to keep my current tariff (what i wanted in the 1st place) and can reduce the line rental by £10, the guy said it will be a new 18mth contract, but when the new handset is out i will be able to upgrade....

my only concern is will they give me the latest handset when i want it? I cant see them charging me £10 extra for 18 mths for a £500 handset..??
would i be better waiting for its release, then havign the freedom to go with the best deal, or use my current line rental cost of £35 per mth to get the best deal?

If you are determined to have a new handset in September, then stay on your current contract, go PAYG or monthly sim-free but do NOT take out another contract.

You will be bound to regret it.

I agree - there are lots of stories of people who sign up for 18/4 months aftre being promised being able to upgrade/downgrade in a few months and then they have all sorts of problems when the times comes and they try to upgrade/downgrade.

Either continue with your current contract or go on a one month sim only from elsewhere.

How many minutes and how much data do you need?

thanks everyone, sorry for the slow response.
I currently have 600 mins, unlimited txtxs and 3gig of data from t-mob. if i went monthly sim only or payg would i canx my current deal? (would i then lose bargaining powers when the new handset was out?)

You may lose some of your bargaining powers but if its the iphone you are waiting for then there probably wont be any deals available so it wouldn't matter. You need to figure out how many mins, texts and data you use each month so you can figure out options you have.

it was actually the note 2 i was waiting on, i would imagine no deals though similar to the iphone. i will check back through my bills. i have also just seen a deal with £120 cashback for sim only, maybe better to do that and buiy phone outright, then pay back the difference in my bills back into my bank account?

    i think deal was £31 for the t-mob full monty - £10 per mth from cpw x 12 = £252, - £31.50 cash back = £220 - £120 quidco = £100.50 / 12 = £8.37
if current contract is £36 - £8.37 x 24 mths (if carried on with the sim only deal for 2 years as per likely t-mob contract) i would have £663 back in my account - if handset sim free costs £400 i am £260 up..??

Remember that Quidco and other similar cashback schemes are not guaranteed - and its for new customers only so you would need to request and use your PAC to transfer your number to another network and then move it back to T-mobile.
