Do you have wifi at home?
You can set up home network and transfer across.
Or memory card will be the easiest way

Do the two PCs form a network in your home? Are they both connected to your router, either wirelessly or via cables?

If so, set up shared folders on each machine and Copy/Paste between the folders. This is as basic as it gets.

Make sure you have copies of your pictures in more than one place for backup purposes.

laptop is wireless- desk top isnt, and for some reason the laptop internet connection wont work whilst the desktop is on.

tbh was thinking memory card would be easiest

thats one of reason why i wanted to move them- so they are on both.

    thank you.x

Possibly not relevant - you may still be able to set up shared folders on each, and get them to talk to each other, even though one can't reach the internut.

    Maybe so

thats one of reason why i wanted to move them- so they are on both.

If you MOVE them, they'll be deleted from one and transferred to the other.

If you COPY them, you make a duplicate at the copy destination, and leave the originals untouched in the original location.

It's important to recognise the distinction between the Windows 'Cut' operation (a Move), and the 'Copy', which is a true Copy instruction.....

I have a memory stick. I think it only cost me a fiver

    So it's on all 3.

The memory stick acts as the back up
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Time to step up to the plate and learn some new things, then. Unless you really WANT to go through life only doing 'basic' stuff.....

googler- i would love to learn how to make the most of a computer but with 4 kids i just dont have the brain power at the moment- would much rather sleep ha ha.
no seriously- i would. i often thought about signing up at the local college for learning the basics. maybe its about time.
think for now though i will be getting friendly with the old memory stick.

The easiest way for a newbie is to use a memory stick or a memory card
Quick instructions for memory stick or card:
    1. On the old PC find out where the photos are stored, normally in My documents/My Pictures.
    2. Open the folder
    3. Plug in the Memory stick and choose open folder to view files from the menu that comes up.
    4. Arrange the windows side by side
    5. If required delete any old files that are already on the memory stick
    6. Drag and drop folders of photos from My pictures to the memory stick. By default it will copy so you will still have the pictures on the old PC
    7. If the memory stick gets full just remember which folders were copied, If you forget or get confused start over from step 5 and do the folders one at a time.
    8. On the new computer, find the My pictures folder.
    9. Plug in the Memory stick and choose open folder to view files from the menu that comes up.
    10. Arrange the windows side by side
    11. Reverse the process and drag and drop folders of photos from the memory stick to My Pictures on the new computer.
    12. If the memory stick was full in step 7 Repeat from the start - except copy the folders of photos that haven't been done
    13. Job done
If you get stuck just ask.
