O2 went over minutes

I have been an O2 customer for 12 years. I went 2 hours & 20 mins over my contract time of 600 mins last month, for the first time ever. O2 have charged me over £105.00 this month instead of my usual £15.50.
I asked them if they would adjust my contract to a 900 min one & apply it retrospectivily (by email) but they won't. They actually made a mistake & instead of applying it retro, they applied from the date I asked & emailed me back at 10.15pm to say it had been done, by which time I couldn't correct it.
I said I would leave as my contact is up next month, but they won't budge, anyone had this happen?

You would have been aware of how long you had spent on your phone and the cost of out of bundle charges.

You went over your allowance and now have to pay the charges.

You have missed the point. OP asked for a retrospective upping of the monthly limit to reduce their costs. O2 have upped the limit, but not retrospectively, thereby incurring even more costs.

OP - ask O2 to review your call from their records and then decide what you want to do. If the upping of your limit was conditional on them applying it retrospectively, then ask for it to be reversed, if you can be sure of not going over again.

I applaud your acceptance of your error in going over - unlike another current post - and it was worth a try in getting a retrospective upping of your bundle. But, in the end, you are liable for the excess and, unless you can strike a deal, will have to pay.

But they can't have it both ways. Get them to check out the call.

I thought in view of being a 12 year customer (& contract up for renewal)they might apply some lee-way & let me pay the bundle rate rather than the excess rate.
But they won't hear of it:(
  • If it's a phone that accepts apps I really would recommend installing one that monitors phone usage. I am currently using Bill Angel which alerts you once you are getting near to your allowance limit. But to be fair going over a 600 min call allowance by 140 mins would probably appear to o2 that this wasn't just a 'mistake'?

You do realise this is a money saving site;)

I'm not trying to "not pay", I'm trying to secure the best deal/rate - especially as my contract is up for renewal.
