O/S Daily Thread Thursday 19th July gone to get sticky .....oh er

Old Style Daily Thread for Thursday 19th July 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Early start in our house this morning, DS2 has already been delivered to school, he's going on a school trip to France for the day.

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy and overcast here again this morning, although dry at the moment, rain forecast again for later. DH up and off to work at stupid early.

Dinner last night was the delicious beef stew and dumplings, new potatoes, veg and LO yorkshire puds. Not really sure what we will be eating tonight, have to organise that later, DS1 at home today too as college already finished and he goes 1 day a week and school doesn't have the capacity to take them for the day. :o:o:o

Need to get stuck in to all the jobs as need to pack for going away tomorrow - have to go to the caravan later so want to take the bag at the same time to save messing about tomorrow. Boys finish school at 1.30pm tomorrow - be nice not to have the pressure of normal day to day routine, although I'm always glad when they go back to school! DS1 goes to France for an adventure week next Friday - can't believe it's come round so quickly!

Think it must be time for some brekkie.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning all
Did you think you'd got rid of me? No such luck, just my computer became very ill & had to go in for repairs, plus absolute chaos at work in the run up to the end of term, plus my beloved having to work a mixture of split shifts which is exhausting for him & doesn't do a lot for my sleep patterns. I'll read back over the weekend to see what I've missed. Off to work now.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all last day of school for the boys then 6 weeks of fun hopefully. We have been plotting things to do that cost very little I am helping to bring up four grandsons in to the ways of MS.They are pretty good at it as well They come up with all sorts of ideas.
We have a plan that if its raining (strong possibility this summer) we have a cinema afternoon (at home) and we get a dvd from the library (50p rental) and make sweets and goodies to eat and set a time for the cinema to open and we all sit and watch the movie then have to say what we thought was good or bad about the film and we rate it out of 10.The afternoon costs very little but we do enjoy it.Then of course there is the library which is a great way of having a couple of hours filled. Our library is next door to the local park so its footie in the park afterwards .I always take drinks and snacks that we have made with us and there are no shops nearby so its another free afternoon.
We have a large country park near to where I live so and afternoon there is always good.We try to tidy up everything indoors before we go out then its neat to come home to and by going in late morning if we take a packed lunch then the afternoon is for enjoying. The boys are really good and know that every penny we save goes towards having fun when we go away in August.I live about half an hour from Whitstable so 'crabbing' off the groynes is another good cheap way to have a day out.The holidays sometimes just whizz by far too quickly and I like to get the boys involved 'doing things' and you don't have to spend much really.because the three youngest are fairly close together in ages its not hard to keep them amused. The eldest often wants to go off to his pals so he's not a bother at all and he knows how to get hold of me quickly if he has a problem.
Well time to get a wriggle on and have some breakfast My DD gave me some camomile and spiced apple tea bags the other day and I have really enjoyed them at breakfast time.I had never tried them before but I love anything slightly spicy so its a cup of that and a toasted banana sandwich on whloewheat bread and that fills me up until lunchtime
    Have a good day everyone

    Good Morning All

    Hello again Hester :D

Been mia myself again - just dont know where the time goes.

Today I do not have to go anywhere till this evening. May take DD out practice driving but that will be it, so I am going to get the essential office work done then hit the housework. Been so busy last couple of days running errands etc that havn't kept on top and can't believe how it goes so far downhill in 2 days!

Am off out with old friends tonight to an italian, we do have a voucher so a little MSE, OH & the kids are having pizza.

This weekend we have a Festival of Food at a lovely place not far from us so think will book some tickets later, its much cheaper than paying at the door. Think will go on the day Gino Decampythingy is there - much easier on the eye than Aldo Zilli :rotfl:

Anyway, must stop rambling and I need more caffeine so have a great day everyone x

Oh BB that is a lovely poem, was very emotional when DD left primary school but when DS left there wasn't a tear anywhere, very strange. Just remember your tissues.

    morning all!

day off today:j - a busy one. Off to collect DS from his GFs shortly then its off to art class for me, then taking DS to work and doing the grocery shopping and finally tonight I'm off our for a curry with 2 good friends:)

WM is on, stripped DSs bed - he can make it later.

Little bit of ironing to do.

My sister kindly gave me a big bowl of very ripe strawberries yesterday so I took them into work, we knocked up a pavlova following Delia recipe and it was absolutely scrummy:T so I've decided thats what I want next week instead of a birthday cake:)

    better get a move on

    have a great day all

    Take care x x

BB that's a lovely poem, hope there aren't too many tears.
    Good to see you HH.
Overcast here but the sun is trying to shine, if it does I may strip the beds, looking forward to better weather at the weekend. Not much planned today, maybe go and clear up a bit in the new bedroom of doom, the cleaning company are coming on Tuesday to collect and store some of the furniture whilst everything is cleaned properly and decorated.

DD asked me yesterday to get her car from the station car park and take it to have a new headlight bulb and rear windscreen wiper. Got to the car park and no car. Phoned DD who informed me that she missed the train and took the car to Glasgow. And there was I thinking that communication was so much easier these days!

WM on and DW will be on when we have had breakfast, house generally not too bad but must clean the microwave. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone,

Hester lovely to see you back

BB I got really upset when DD2 left primary school last year, I had had children at the school for 11 years!

It is raining here again this morning but from the weather forcast it looks like summer is about to start on saturday.:D

DD1 and DD2 were in a dance show yesterday at school and it was brilliant. One of DD1s friends who is a boy was persuaded to dance in it. He is a brilliant ballet dancer but he has been bullied in the past over his dancing. He was fantastic and was given a standing ovation.:D

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
