Seems daft to have a Federation Against Copyright Theft that's only interested in Copyright Theft if it's a film.My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Trading Standards deal with 'normal' copyright theft, but unless Daihatsu UK want to press charges, it won't go anywhere.0

As the CD plays OK and you can read the data off of it the scratches are superficial, if there is only one PDF file on the disc then most of the CD is empty. What data there is will be around the center area, it won't matter if the rest of the disc is scratched. The CD reader will have error correction to deal with any minor scratches.
For £8 it would be better if the disc was in better condition but it really don't matter.0 -
I'd try asking him nicley for a replacement. Since he includes this disclaimer on the listing
it sounds as though he's had a few dubious refund claims, so I wouldn't be surprised or even really blame him if he assumes yours is another one. If he knows you're after a disc in perfect condition rather than your money back, he's much more likely to be helpful.PLEASE NOTE: A FEW PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COPYING THIS DISC TO THEIR HARD DRIVE,
OR PRINTING IT OUT, AND THEN, AS SOON AS THEY HAD WHAT THEY NEEDED, TRIED
CLAIMING THAT IT WAS NOT WHAT THEY WANTED. SO, RELUCTANTLY, I CANNOT
ACCEPT RETURNS OF THIS ITEM FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER.0 -
Hi all.
The seller is now sending me replacement which I think is better service. I'm surprised by the response that it is acceptable to receive a scratched CD. If I'm paying £8 for a CD then I think it should be in perfect condition and not settle for burning to another CD or my harddrive. If you accept a scratched CD then what else do you except? Where do you draw the line?
Anyway Thanks for your responses.

I think the cd is worth more than the van.0

I thought you were paying £8 for the information. And seeing as CD's can get scratched anyway I would have backed it up on my PC as well.0 -
Is it just me that finds it odd that someone should buy pirate goods from a pirate seller and then expect retail service?
Dubious sellers of dubious goods generally offer dubious levels of service. What goes around - comes around0 -
if he/she was a good seller and looked after their customers, they would simply send a replacement free of charge (possibly without needing the original back).
he/she is simply burning the info onto a 10p blank dvd & should really build the costs of occassionally sending out replacements into their monthly expenditure.
additionally they do not own the copyright to this material & will not have the permission to re-sell it, therfore are breaking ebay t&c0 -
just to add the listing is not marked down as a new item. If it was you would probably have a valid claim for a replacement!0
