I got my problem sorted, so I'm a happy bunny. I would recommend Ibis and Kiev to anyone reading this.
In all honesty I thought the girls in Sarajevo were attractive, but the girls in Kiev are on a whole new level.

Any complaints about the actual hotel? I never think its a company's fault that you accidentally booked two rooms. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

the hotel and kiev were really good. i can see your point of view, but when you buy something online you get the "payment successful" page. i just never got that message
in the past i've bought things online and the payment process doesn't go through. i've had to go through the ordering process again, but i've never been debited for the failed transaction....0 -
Yes I agree but once card details are put in a web page and you press confirm I'm always a bit wary. A few times I've booked tickets for gigs that have been very popular and this has happened. With a hotel when the actual charge date is in the future I would have contacted them to confirm. Ask yourself this, I'd you booked a hotel by phone and you handed over your payment details, then just as they were about to confirm payment your phone went dead. Would you phone up to book another room or check whether your original booking had gone through? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have booked frequently with Ibis over the web and never had this problem. In fact on a recent visit to Amsterdam I had a minor complaint about my room. Reception went far beyond my expectations to rectify the situation. I would certainly book with them again.0

You say that before this you would have used Ibis as first choice,so presumably you've had good experiences before. When you find a hotel chain without a single negative review comment please will you share it?
I've used several chains, mostly all fine but there's been the occasional hiccups. That's just a part of life. There's only one chain I'd be reluctant to use again and it's not Ibis0 -
Did you book by a credit card or a visa debit? Can you ask your card provider about a chargeback? They may say no but they may be able to work something out with the chain. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

As a loyal customer who seems to use them a lot I wouldnt use them again if they dont refund. They will lose a lot more than the cost of the refund.0
