Just follow the instructions that will be supplied to you with the new machine, basically ensure the drain rises to a standpipe roughly 400mm above the drain outlet of the appliance. Use a wm installation kit that has an air trap.

    Simply follow the instructions ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

So he needs to go and buy an installation kit? I wonder if that was why the old one used to smell a wee bit - he never got a kit.. arrggh MEN!

I'd prefer approx 3" of water seal rather than an air trap but I know what CB means.

    Yes use one of these:

unless your sink trap has a spigot built in like this:

in which case fix the outlet hose to the spigot with a jubilee clip.

    Cheers

No, you are correct, I meant a min of 600mm from drain to top outlet, anything greater is better but hard, under 900 units, thanks Keystone.

You can add a spigot (2nd photo) to your existing trap if you have the space. If you do use the spigot method I would recommend raising the outlet pipe up first as per the advice above.

All the washing machines I have had have been supplied with an U shaped bracket (that can be fitted upside down on the wall) than can be used to place the pipe over. Mine just feeds through high up on the side of a sink unit.

you don't just add a spigot to a p trap you buy a spigot trap in the first place.

make sure your husband takes the drain hose through a hole in the cupboard at high level then down to the spigot, you don't run it under the unit & then up into the spigot or it will fill up with dirty water.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

They occasionally read the installation instructions? I usually class that as a defeat when installing something but I usually glance at the pictures first :p
