Ah - please have a look at this thread here on the ebay site board.

The sum of it is that email is not an accepted form of delivery. You no longer have buyer protection once you buy an item that is to be delivered buy email. This is little known (I didn't know until today) and seems to be a new common scam.
If you read that whole thread you can see how the buyer had the same problem as you and then did successfully receive a refund and get the seller banned form ebay. it took a long time though!House saving Targets:

I would have thought robbery was a strong enough case but clearly not strong enough for Ebay...0
