    How do I escalate?
    Please advise, thanks.

Once the ten days has passed it then gives you an option to escalate in the resolution centre.

Check the paypal transaction as well to see if it's refunded or pending. Refunds will sometimes go back to your original payment method - I just got a refund for an item and paypal refunded the money directly back to my card but I only realised this on looking at the transaction - it never showed as a positive balance in the paypal account.

I've never done this before. I stupidly thought that "the seller must respond by July 20" would mean some automatic mechanism would kick in after the 20th? How do I escalate? I've been in IT for 20 years and it's as clear as mud in a vain hope by Ebay that no-one will bother them and things will tick away all hunky dory, grrrr....Please advise, thanks.

see # 7 for how to check if you have a refund going through, check the original transaction to see if it says refunded! If not escalate.

By opening as dispute all you are doing is trying to open lines of communication and hope the seller will talk to you, but it is done via the PayPal site where communications are seen by both sides (and PayPal). PayPal do not do anything until the claim is escalated and if you do not escalate by the end of the 20 days then they close the case.

Just go to your dispute and click to escalate it, once you have done that then PayPal intervene, contact the seller and give them 10 days to respond. If the seller does not respond and prove that they have sent the goods (tracking reference) or refunded, PayPal will most likely find in your favour and refund you the money owed.

Thanks ever so much guys. The >10 days thing got me, no option to escalate as yet, this should kick in tomorrow or the next day. Crystal clear now!
I'll keep you posted. btw - 3 other buyers have got in touch with me, 2 in the same boat as me and one who already has his refund BUT not via the seller's feedback, by force via Paypal. Ho hum. Dirty liar that he is. Can I name him? Go on go on go on ....

Your feedback was removed because you mentioned the police

I think it more likely to be because the seller filed a Defamation notice and Ebay remove as soon as they get one of those according to their legal dept.

You have an option as soon as you open the dispute, there should be a box to tick to escalate, you can open the case and move to instant escalation if you chose to, do not wait for them to offer to escalate (from all I read in the process they do not, not even sure if they will remind you the case is about to close as you have not escalated?).

Go to the case (I take it you are doing this in PayPal, I did read sometime ago that payments made by PayPal have to be disputed in PayPal and not EBay as that was your method of payment and you are PayPal protected) and view details some where (bottom left If I remember) there is the option to escalate (or what ever they all it).
All this can be viewed and found in the open case and when opening it it would have informed you that you had 20 days and until you escalated then PayPal would not get involved , if you did not escalate then the case would close.

If you name they may remove the thread?

Paypal won't let me start a dispute because I have already have an ebay dispute on the go. Just great. At least it shows that the 2 sites are linked?

    Anyone?

We're sorry there's a problem with your purchase. You already opened a case regarding this item. Please go to the eBay Resolution Centre to review the program details for information on what to do next.
Have a problem with a transaction? We encourage you to contact the seller directly by opening a dispute in the Resolution Centre within 45 calendar days of payment.
    Reasons for opening a dispute:
    • You paid for your item, but you haven't received it.
    • You received an item that is significantly different from the seller's description.
Most disputes can be resolved through direct communication. If you're unable to resolve the problem, we can help. You can ask us to investigate the transaction by escalating the dispute to a PayPal claim.

Err...no they bloomin well can't. And well you know it!!

Okay can't advise on that then, as I said I read some time ago browsing eBay that if you paid via PayPal then you had to open the dispute via Paypal. The option to dispute is in the Resolution Centre along the second bar at the top towards the right.

Out of curiosity go to your PayPal account and check if the dispute is open in there and if it is you may have the option to move it on. If not I guess you will have to wait to follow the eBay process. Keep us informed of your progress :)

It might not as it is already on going, go to Resolution Centre in PP & check if it is showing as an open case??? (worth remembering to go via PP if you should have an issue in the future it seems so much more cut and dry and dare I say more efficient).
