RE: Train season ticket refunds during the Olympics?
Options
Hi all.
I have a Train season ticket from Southampton to London with the underground included too - and was wondering if anyone had heard if the train companies and London underground will be offering refunds to the people that they are advising to seak other methods of getting across London?
Seems a bit unfair that I have paid for travel already - only to be told to seak other ways of getting to work.
If I work from home for the time of the olympics, could I get a refund?

I don't think anybody has been told to seek other ways of going to work - just that it might be a good idea. What's your journey in London - I'm sure we can provide some less busy alternatives for you.
Other than that it's down to personal choice. I'll be coming in every day. I expect it to be busier but I'll manage. Can I help?0 -
I'll be coming in too - no option to work from home at my company. The train company is still providing a service to those of us barmy enough to attempt to travel with the crowds (my line runs through Stratford) so I don't see them offering refunds.
Remember delay repay - I'm expecting a nice wad of rail vouchers to result from the next few weeks.0 -

I travel from Waterloo to Kings Cross - and then back at the end of the day... It's too far to walk I think.
Thanks all for the replies.0 -
I'll be commuting in during the games too. Not looking forward to it.0

Provided none of the roads are closed due to events happening en route and he has to take a MASSIVE detour! lol0 -
Me too. Into Liverpool Street Station every day
Luckily I don't need to use tubes or buses though. If the first day is rubbish I might change my hours temporarily to come in later and leave later, but we'll see how it goes. Not expecting any compensation though!

Yeah, I'm going to do the same. See how the first 3 or 4 days are then speak to my boss about leaving earlier to avoid the rush, and make up any hours at home!
Having to queue for my train home doesn't sound much fun!!0 -
Not many events in central London though are there?0

I hear what you're saying and sympathise. However, we've known since 2005 that the Olympics were coming to London.0
