If ex partner was taking son out on fast powerful motorbike without your consent... Behind your back.., him knowing you wouldn't allow it and family going mad about it.
The law states their must be parental permission and it's responsibility of driver but what if one parent isn't consenting?
Child is 7

Be mature and discuss with the other parent.
Also are you on about carrying as passenger or some form of dirt biking?!
No matter what happens theyve got the permission thus not breaking the law ergo you can do little short of getting full rights for your child to prevent them doing this.
You dont really need to make two threads on this topic.0 -
Yeah I wouldn't be impressed at all and if he did it again then I would sease contact and see a solicitor. It is a irresponsible thing to do.
I would have a chat with him first though and tell him of your concerns and that you are not happy with it.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0 -
Consent aside, is the child being kitted out with helmet and full protective biking leathers and boots?0

Irresponsible?! how?
And solicitor?! why?
Thats a poor attitude, its not her child its their child! Why cant the ex decide on what the child does?! Motorbike could be the only form of transport for the ex and thus wouldnt be able to pick his child up without it. As said in the other thread whats happening isnt illegal so unless she wants to go for full custody of the child (taking a child on a motorbike legally will not be enough to win full custody of a child)0 -

As others have said, it very much depends on the details - if the ex is ragging an hold heap of a bike round some waste ground with no protective gear the I think this would be a problem.
On the other hand, if the ex has kitted their son out with good quality protective gear, and taking him as pillion on the road on a well maintained bike I don't see the issue.
I don't see what difference it makes if the bike is fast and powerful? surely it's the way it's being ridden that's the issue? I would rather my son was on a fast powerful bike being ridden sensibly at 70 on the motorway, than on a small moped being ridden badly round town.0 -

This is what i was trying to get across in my post, but came out all wrong, if the child is kitted out correctly etc then I don't see a problem with it, but if he isn't and it's being used to race around dangerously with then no I wouldn't be happy with it.
Can you give more details OP?Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0 -

and has the parent who takes the child out on the bike been riding safely for years, and behaves safely on the bike with the child?
Don't get me wrong OP, I wouldn't be impressed, I don't like motorbikes, but lots of people do, and behave responsibly on the roads, are aware of the dangers, and ride accordingly.0 -

Do you check up with your ex that everything you do with the child is acceptable to him?
If both of you have parental responsibility then either of you can give permission.0 -
For some reason going by the OP, i got the impression that the child was being raced around on it irresponsibly, hence my response. However I don't see nothing wrong with it, if the child is dressed appropriately and assuming the ex has a license etc.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

Hi all there is helmet being worn but no leathers. It does make a difference the power of the bike due to stopping and starting and how / if a person knows and understands how to handle this .. A friend even commented on how powerful the bike was and wouldn't take a child on it.. He an experienced rider .. Ex partner also ..tho personally think he's too old to be driving whilst taking a little one on
The worry is that if anything happened .. It's like he is doing it without telling anyone behind our backs to aggravate us ..
Thanks for the replies
