Even if your daughter lived with you, what are you going to do when she leaves school and becomes a non dependant? Your HB entitlement will be reduced right down again.
How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.

I've given you proper advice - up your hours!

If you're going to be living so close to your family, renting somewhere for the children to sleep is not nearly as important as if you lived at a distance.
I apologise again for being rude. If I could up my hours I would. I've been searching for more hours or a full time job since I got laid off 2 years ago.

    Apology accepted.

You only need an additional 6 hours' work to enable you to claim WTC; this could be a couple of mornings/evenings cleaning, a couple of evenings bar work, one overnight in a care home, etc . Some of these options could even be self employed.

I do realise that it isn't easy but you need to look at your problems laterally to find a solution.

If you claim no benefits at the moment then I take your wife works and earns her own money.

AFAIK (please check) there can be an agreement to split the child benefit and Tax Credits. This may give you the money to rent a larger place.

But you can't expect tax payers to pay for a larger house for you whilst you work part time. But equally it doesn't need to be forever. I really beleive that having 2 parents is important to a child, so you seeing them regularly and having them for tea (but not overnight for a month or two till you find a new job or more hours) won't be as bad as you imagine. Regular contact in a loving and stable enviroment is best (over night or not), so please do equal a good parent with overnight stays.

    Good luck

How can someone who doesn't have caring duties, isn't disabled and has some work experience not manage to find a few extra hours work in the evenings or week-ends unless they are very particular about what they are prepared to do and show no real motivation or commitment to finding it.

I think we all know the answer to that.

    Board rules prevent me saying.

How about no longer being masochistic?
    How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?

You (or your wife) could also make up most of that six hours with taxable online/offline mini-jobs, such as net surveys, online site reviews/vists, offline mystery shopping, etc etc. Visit the Up Your Income board for ideas.

There's not much point in his wife doing it when they're separated.
