Transferring to another contract within the same company

Just wondering if there are any possibilities of being able to do this.

so I've been with Orange a few years now, and just got my broadband with them too. A few months ago my contract ended and rather than upgrade I chose to go SIM only, £10 p/m for 12 months. So no shiny new phone, but a cheaper contract.

Now, I admit I'm a bit distracted by the shiny-ness of the new S3. Orange are offering it on a great deal for £30 p/m. Obviously though, I'm tied into a contract with them already.

I'm wondering if it's possible in this kind of situation to negotiate to switch to that offer, or one similar. I am paying them less at the moment, and I don't have a phone with them so I haven't really got anything out of the deal that would make it less worthwhile for them...

TL;DR: Would Orange be likely to let me change from SIM only £10 p/m contract to a £30 contract with a free phone?

You have a minimum period on the Sim only of 12 months so you can buy that out by paying the months left x £10 a month to clear the contract.

Will they waive that to go to a more expensive contract, only Orange can tell you that.

Ring them and see what they're willing to do for you. Given that they stand take in £720 (£30 x 24 months) from you moving onto this deal, rather than the £120 they would have been getting, they might well be interested.
