What would you do?? Buyer is NARUd but paid...

I sold an item recently and the buyer paid straight away by paypal. The price the item reached wasn't really what I was hoping for and I put it down to it ending smack bang in the middle of the Easter weekend when it was nice and sunny and people were out and about and not glued to their PCs?? Well, anyway, i just wrote it down to experience and was about to send the item when disaster struck... My PC had a tantrum and one of the hard drives kept packing up, to save risking losing everything I thought it was about time I bought a new hard drive so nipped out and got a brand spanking new 80GB hard drive... ok so I'm off track a little but have had probs re-installing stuff and finally got my PC (sort of) up and running only an hour or so ago and have just noticed the buyer has been NARUd - looking at his previous auctions it was for selling links but now I dont really know what I should do - can I claim back fees etc which will free me to send the item? Or do I need to send it off anyway? Or better still can I keep the money and deny all knowledge... (not a very nice thing to do i know)...

What would you do??

Tough call, think I'd try and contact the buyer first.

A tough call? .... Are you being serious?

A buyer bought and paid for an item in good faith last weekend..... Yet you still haven't sent it to them nearly a week later..... and..... now, unhappy with the sale price, you want to wriggle out of the sale??

Worse still, and as good as theft, you want to keep their money!!!

The fact that they may have been NARUEd for what might have been selling violations has no bearing WHATSOEVER on this sale.

Send it ..... And apologise for the delay!!!

    Just My Humble Opinion :D

Edit: Having read your post twice more ... It doesn't look any better. :(

    i agree,

if you have been paid, then you will also have received the buyer's postal address, you should send the item to them.
just because they have been NARUed is not a reason to stitched up.......
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
  • I also agree you should not keep their money..... I have however twice in the last 2 weeks had to deal with buyers who have become NARU`d and on both occasions I have recieved emails from ebay advising me NOT to deal

How can you even think about keeping the item!!

You have the money, they won fair and square...please send it out straight away. Their problems elsewhere are not your concern!!

yeah, so what? I was only asking a question that NO-ONE answered,"can I claim back fees etc "

Get off your high horse, the thought crossed my mind but i wasn't serious.

No but it does mean that you are advised not to deal with them as they are NO LONGER A REGISTERED USER

I dunno, maybe I shouldn't have jested about keeping the money and not sending the item but is there anyone who can see past this one statement to offer me some advice?? I KNOW that it is not the 'right' thing to do to withdraw the sale but seeing as i'm after making money and not losing it and this opportunity has arisen I wondered if it was possible to do...

To put it simply I am asking whether anyone knows if it is possible to claim back my fees and send back the money and if so how to do this....

I did think your comments were helpful if I had said I was definatley not sending the item, it was my fault for not making my point clearer.

You can send a refund through PayPal.

    But.........

I do not understand why you are giving Tojo Ralph such a hard time!!!

You have sold an item which has been paid for. If should have either put a reserve on ther item or a higher starting price if you were not happy about the potential outcome.

Please just send the guy his item with a tracking number and you will be fine.

As I said before his problems are not your concern and a refusal to send is morally wrong!!!

Rachie, I knew you were only jokin!! ;) As the buyer won the item when they were still a registered user, they have won it fair and square. If they were still bidding on it and they were then NARU'd, their bid would have been removed automatically.

Send the item with a tracking number. What you CAN do is claim back your fees, by going to the NPB section to file an alert. Rather than having to wait 7 days and then another 7 days, as the guy is no longer regustered, you can select this option and you will get your fees back immediatly. I cant see a problem with this as this does not do any harm to anyone. The guy gets his item and you get your fees back.

    I hope that helps!

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)
  • If Rachie77 did complete the transaction would she still be covered by ebay & paypal payment protection policy if for some reason something went wrong with the transaction ..... after all they have been NARU`d for a reason
