Nokia 6680 locked on 3
is there any way of getting this unlocked other than by contacting 3 (i realise it wont be free)
Its just we have sold this on ebay and the buyer has asked as she called 3 and they said the regisrted keeper had to call etc, which means we will have to do it and pay for it (she said she would pay through paypal etc)
Thanks

I'm afraid not, I have seen a website offering to do it for £45 payable by paypal but have never had any feedback from this site. The safest way is to go through 3 I'm afraid0

When I asked two weeks ago Three said that there is a charge of £15 for the code.

Apart from the network, I understand that it is not currently possible to unlock. As a result, anyone advertising that they can could be trying to scam you (haven't tried, but looked into this a while ago and then decided to keep the handset so did not unlock).

I've just called 3 customer services to ask them to unlock my old phone (6680) I'm still in contract and have had an upgrade. When i called, i was given the option of taking a customer service survey and said yes. The guy i spoke to was helpful, took all my info then checked i was aware that it would cost £15. I said I wasnt aware... and that i didnt want to go ahead with it. he then said in that case he'd credit my account with £15! I then had to stay on hold for ages whilst he spoke to someone else, but then came back and gave me my code directly instead of putting me through as he apoplogised for the wait!
He then clarified several times that he'd answered all my queries etc and told me he would put me through to the survey... which explains the super-helpfulness!
In total I was on the phone for half an hour but think it was worth it, and can now use my phone for Orange Wednesdays!0 -
hi,
its possible to get any 3uk unlock code (unofficially). it takes 48 hours to get but its not cheap (alot less than the £45.00 quote above).

If the phone is out of contract 3 MUST unlock it. Otherwise they are breaking the law.
If however you are in contract (and you are not the original owner you are stuck).0 -

Are you sure they must unlock it? please clarify... how does one go abouts doing this..
After the contract is up then you own the phone, until the contract is up then the phone is still the property of the mobile network it is locked to. When you actually own the phone it is your right to have it unlocked but I'm not sure if they do it for free all the time on all the networks.0 -
