Its an old Rover with a duff engine, its only fit for crushing!

The value is much less than a crashed modern car with salvageable parts

    .
  • rovers are still good for parts look on ebay.

We were advised not too as they are prone to the heads going.

    Who advised you?

Some gaskets can be repaired from as little as £250 back street garage, provided the head hasn't warped more than 0.05mm.

I take it dumped all coolant?, mayo in the oil?....so long as you didnt overheat the engine (driving without coolant) it might be fixable??

If you do scrap it, make sure you get a Certificate of Destruction

and claim back any TAX by holding on to the tax disc and sending back to DVLNI

If its only the head leaking and nothing else you could try putting some k-seal in it...you might get a few more months out of it.

I would have been a great advocate of K Seal, but i tried Steel Seal and it does seem to be better - if more expensive.

Rad weld, K seal and Steel seal are the devil's work.

    for cowboy mechanics.

Should only be used as a get home measure, then the system should be drained and flushed thoroughly after using them.

Next thing, the OP comes back on saying 'car seems to be going but now its over heating and the heater doesnt work'
(due to the crud clogging the radiator and heater matrix, sometimes the narrow restrictive castings in the aluminium head)

    Avoid if possible
