Will you treat yourself when you are Debt Free?

I actually find it quite difficult to spend money now, have told myself that once I reach 3k savings next month, I'm gonna have a break for a few months and buy some nice toys (I told myself this at £500 and £1000)...
Feels nice to have the choice though, feel much more patient, something comes along I want to buy and I have no problem waiting a few months until I can buy it in cash.
Still feel like I worry about money though, in the same way I did when I had none, which is weird.0 -
We deffinately need to treat ourselves at the end of all of our hard work! At the end of the day we deserve it
and atleast we know we will be able to thoroughly enjoy it because we have saved for it!
I also can't wait to have a nice little savings balance - not for anything in particular, but just because I can!!
May 2014? NO! I will deffinately get it cleared before then - this is my mission!

Ours was going to be a trip to Disney in Orlando, but I've been made redundant which has thrown all our plans completely. *sigh*0

Hi Stillsmiling!
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about thatFingers crossed something will come along and you will be in a better position
But keep Disney in mind as it will still be there waiting for you to visit at the end of your journey and all your downs will be worth it

Very true CandyCupcake and if our creditors accept the full and final settlements we've offered them then we'll be in a better position to treat ourselves once I get a new job. :-)
Also thinking positively, I get to spend the summer holidays with my children - something I have NEVER got to do! Of course I may want to kill them by day 2......0 -
When I became debt free I bought flights for myself at my ex to Nepal. Was a fantastic trip and wouldnt reallocate a penny!
But the big thing was that it let me take a lower paying job working in Africa, which has changed my life and has improved my career prospects, to the point that I'm now able to save more and do more fulfilling work that I ever could have in the UK. I was really only able to make the jump once I was debt free, and havent regretted it at all.Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

Me?
I'm going to save, save, save. I just want something in the bank for the first time in my life (i'm in my 40's).
I had thought of paying my mortgage off with the DMP but I think it will be a case of building up cash so I never, ever have to borrow for anything ever again.
