When I was little, my mum and her best mate used to have a house swap on a regular basis. Neither of them was the most houseproud person in the world, but on each other's houses they worked wonders! ;)

We haven't de-cluttered for years  We are in the middle of doing it now though as we are in the process of buying a new place and we are absolutely not taking the junk with us (stamps foot) ;) Gotta be ruthless!!

    Good for you :T

We still have partially opened boxes from when we moved 10 years ago  although we have moved 3 times since (somehow i can convince myself this is an excuse :embarasse)

Whenever I suggest we do something about it DH says don't worry he'll do it, but of course he never does and then if I mention it again, I'm nagging  Even when he does help out a bit he's always in a foul mood

Sorry, this is turning into a rant about DH

If it hasn't been opened for 10 years do you need what's in there ? Something my partner said to me and he was right.

Must agree I find it easier to do things in other peoples houses than my own, get wrong all the time for taking over at my sisters. I always help friends declutter then came back to my house with hidden clutter. I even kept all my childrens baby clothes until late last year (youngests 6 now) I got rid of the baby bed linen last month, but have offered to loan a friend my cot, can't part with it properly yet :o

I am however getting better with the flylady thread, motivation and putting thanks to what is a thankless, unrewarded task in many ways. Also helps me be more organised.

As far as DPs go, mine doesn't help at all, he does however like suggesting things.
One day I might be more organised...........

No, but DH is a stay-at-home DH and I never get the opportunity to chuck anything out without him noticing. Confounded by the fact that i don't currently have a car and so have to rely on him to take anything to the tip.

Aarghhh, I can hear myself just making up more excuses :embarasse

Have you tried writing him a list of jobs, in a nice way, try a Honey's to do list, sure I seen them on https://www.chartjungle.com I do this type of thing for odd jobs like putting shelves up (which had been sat there 18 months) or drawers (over 2 years) oh and the shelves for my dragons he's still not done 3 years later, for my DP. That way you can say ' I won't nag you any more about things I need you to do, just when you have some spare time you can look at the list and do some then cross them off, that way both of us are happy'
