  • I know it sounds daft, but I often pretend to be someone else when I'm faced with a big de-cluttering job or I've let the housework slide a bit. Not only does it make the work go faster, but I can entertain myself with the kind of girly b*tch-fest that women often enjoy (but seldom admit to!). Catty little comments along the lines of Les Dawson's 'Just look at the state of the place - you can see SHE'S a stranger to Ajax!', or 'Do you think she's going to dust the top of that telly one day, or just plant something on it?!' :)
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature!

this might shock some of you to take action. i come from a family of hoarders but in the last few years due to multiple house moves have realised that the stuff in boxes that got moved from house to house unopened was just baggage / clutter and better still we made money getting rid of our clutter.

now for the shocking part - please don't let this be you in the future. my elderly aunt had set her heart on a bungalow near a loch. she had searched this particular area for years. when the right house came on the market she snatched it up. problem was she was moving from a 3 bed detached house with sunroom /utility room & garage to a lovely 3 bed bungalow. she had promised relatives she had decluttered and even got rid of loads of furniture. however when she moved she could not deal with the boxes of stuff that was floor to ceiling in most rooms. she had stuff belonging to my long deceased gran which she couldn't bear to part with plus all her oen 'treasures'. she decided it was too much for her and she had made a mistake, she moved back to her old house which luckily the sale had fallen through on and put all thes boxes back where they belonged undealt with. she has even started buying back the type of furniture she sold.

i believe had someone sorted through everything and found everything a place without her having to deal with it, she would have been perfectly happy in her new home.
