Hi Folks,
I am organising an election schedule for few days time. I need to print out ballot papers that will have serial numbers.
Is there any free software that can do that?
Cheers

What word processing software do you have? If the number of forms is not too large, you could simply replicate one form per page and use the Page Number function in Word or Openoffice as a serial number.
No doubt there are similar ways to do it in something like PowerPoint or Impress.0 -

Should be easy to do in Word 2003, but I've not used that for many, many years. So I can't remember how to do it.
It's got to be something like Insert, Field, Page Number. If your serial numbers don't start at 1, you can set a specific starting page number via a Section Break, IIRC (but perhaps I don't!).0 -
Instructions for Word 2003 - use the SEQ field. This lets you print more than 1 form per page. Otherwise use page numbering in the header.
Helpful tip in tools>options>view set field shading to always. It won't print but it helps to identify fields.
Wherever you want the number to appear in the form do the following:- Insert > Field, then In category choose numbering then select SEQ
- In the Field dialogue box under field codes type the name of your seq field (you can have more than one). "A" will do so now the field code will be SEQ A
- Now press OK
- You will now see a number 1 - this will change as you print/update
When you press f9 the fields will update and should show as 1, 2, 3 etc.
If you want the numbering to start from say 1001 do the following on the first number only:- Highlight the first field
- Right click and choose Toggle field codes
- Inside the braces, it should look like this:
SEQ A \* MERGEFORMAT
- Do not delete the braces but change it to look like this:
SEQ A \r 1001 \* MERGEFORMAT - Repeat steps 1 and 2
- Press F9 and your fields should start from 1001
There are ways to do this automatically using print merge and so on but this is the simplest.
Dave0 - Insert > Field, then In category choose numbering then select SEQ
