Had to see my GP today re medication for my RA.
I haven't seen my GP for nearly three months - the last time I saw him I had lost 4 stones, I have now lost 7 stones.
I knocked on the door and went in.
He looked me up and down, then looked me up and down again - then raised his eyebrows and said " wow, how much weight have you lost?"
So I told him and he was stunned! He did sign my Cambridge form, mind you but had obviously forgotten about it.
He wanted to know what I eat, etc.
Said some of his patients said it was expensive so I told him I pay £36 per week which I think is a fair price.
His face was a picture, though!!!

It's nice that you GP remembers you, mine never does!
I do think thought that people that say it's expensive aren't looking at the bigger picture, I mean of course you could eat for less than £36 a week but the simple fact is that most overweight people don't. I know that before Cambridge I was probably spending something like £30 a week on takeaways and then food for the house, food for work, it all adds up. And don't get me started on how much I used to spend in the coke vending machine!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
With this medical condition you end up seeing a GP very regularly unfortunately! For the first two years I was there literally twice a month, I couldn't seem to keep away from the place.
Also I only live in a small town so the GP's do tend to remember their patients.
I was spending over £50 per week on food pre-CD - all fresh food, no pre-packaged stuff at all. Lots of fruit and vegetables etc.

I totally agree with the points made regarding the cost of CD. I was definitely spending more money on my food & I pay for 4 packs a day!!0

Ok
I've made a decision. I'm gonna start the diet! I have to drop the form to the doctor and will hopefully get it back by the end of the week, perhaps beginning of next week. Then I'm ready to go. I've decided to ditch the trip in February (because I really wanna do the diet more than eat constantly for 2 weeks. My extra, extra fat jeans started to squeeze round me today:wall:  ) and use the trip in March as a milestone goal. I should be halfway there by March. I have about 3 stone I would be comfortable with losing. I'm also temporarily handing over my food reviews to a trusted friend. So when I'm in more control in a few months, I can do them making better choices and not being swayed by the staff schmoozing around me, buttering me up with free heavy desserts & wine etc.
I went to see a CDC today. She wasn't overally convincing. She didn't tell me a lot, I just asked her questions according to what everyone on this forum talks about (intake of coke zero, no alcohol etc). I was given a couple of booklets and rushed out the door really. I also wasn't convinced she has done CD, as she looks like a 'do as I say, not as I do' kind of person. Her 'after' pic and what she looks like now aren't anywhere near the same. ( I don't mean to sound horrible! I was expecting someone who is a fine example of what I've been hearing about the CD. It was a bit surprising to find she wasn't looking like her after pic anymore) She also had a huge plate of sweets RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME while I filled out the starter form. Talk about temptation. I'm not too sure about her being my CDC yet, so would really like some recommendations please? West London areas please. I'm prepared to travel for a good CDC though! I drive.
One more thing. Any suggestions on how many days before I start CD, that I should start the cut down on carbs to prepare for SS? A few meal ideas will be very helpful and gratefully appreciated!
Thank you, and keep up the good work everyone!!!:j Hopefully I'll be reporting my first weight loss soon...0 -
If you don't think you are going to gel with that CDC do change! You are paying the money, not her!!
If you can't find another CDC on the website do phone Cambridge and ask - they have CDC's whom aren't on the public list.
Five days prep is enough - I only did five days prep - went totally carb-free, as far as possible, and had no problems at all the first week on SS apart from feeling cold by about day 4 - in the middle of Summer!
I took out bread, potatoes, pasta and lived on fresh meat, fresh fish, vegetables - had salads. Had eggs for breakfast.
It does make the first week on CD a lot easier, so is worth doing.
Also up your water intake to the 2.25L per day and cut out the milk in tea/coffee. Switch to green tea or peppermint tea.
Hope all goes well for you.

I dont think I will have lost any weight this week
After my pickings at the weekend, I weighed myself last night to find I have put on 3 pound. So even if I lose that 3 pound by Thursday (proper weigh day) I am only going to be the same as I was last week
I'm mad but I'm mad at myself, I shouldn't have picked
Still I'm determined now, even went to the chip shop last night to fetch OH tea (he's soooooo supportive  ) and wasn't even tempted to pinch even one off his plate, instead I just kept picturing how I'm going to look on my sun lounger if I carry on and how I'll look if I give in and that's helpingSometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -

A good part, if not all, of that 3lbs will be water-weight - if you stick to SS religiously it should just disappear in a day or two.
