help please!

Can somebody help me please, I'm not sure where to start. I have paid via Paypal approx ten pounds altogether for an item on Ebay. I haven't received it.

What do I do now? I have contacted the seller and they have said they have put it in the post, I have now given them until this Friday to either answer my further correspondence or have item delivered.

If I do not receive it, do I then let Ebay know, and then write them negative feedback. Do I then contact Paypal separately and try and claim a tenner back that way or are you only protected if you have paid out more than ten pounds?

I'm a little bit worried as I have 100% feedback, and I don't want this person to write negative feedback, to get back at me, if you like.

Thanks for your help.

When did you pay for the item?

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.
  • I'd give them chance to sort it out before leaving neg feedback. If it has got genuinely lost then it's not really their fault.

I'd wait for a max of 2 weeks from payment for an item to be delivered before I started worrying. If after 2 weeks you have no item ask the seller for a refund. If they refuse a refund then open an "Item not received" complaint through paypal. If the seller can't prove delivery then you *should* get your money back. Don't try for a refund from e-bay as they will charge you for getting back your money (I think its more than the £10 you spent)

I would leave neg feedback only as a last resort and if the seller did nothing to help. If they refund you and are ok about it I would either leave a pos or none at all.

Hi, sorry for delay. It was 16 days ago. I have contacted them and they haven't responded.

After I won the item I waited a few days, then sent an email asking them if they had sent it. They replied saying apologies they have been away and that they will send it in the post the next day - that was 9 days ago. I don't think it takes that long to send something in the post.

You should concentrate on the paypal chargeback and getting your money back first. The feedback is immaterial at the moment, you have plenty of time to worry about that later.

However make sure you give your seller time to get the item to you, you have up to 45 days to make a claim via paypal so for an overseas purchase it's probably best to wait at least 2 weeks before worrying unduly.

I gave them until this Friday to answer correspondence. Am I right in saying that if they don't have the funds in paypal that I won't get any money back?

To summarise then, I should wait 3 weeks? from close of auction to give them benefit of the doubt and then contact paypal first and not Ebay?

I'm not sure why I thought this was an overseas item  Maybe I'm just overworked!

To clarify....your claim is via paypal since you paid that way, ebay will just refer you to them. If the seller is still selling then wait for the next batch of auctions to finish and then put in your chargeback as that will freeze the funds in their account while your claim is sorted.

Incidentally, what is the sellers feedback like?

Thanks for that, they are 100%. But my suspicions should have been raised at the start because originally they auctioned an item, someone else won it, then the item came back on again - and 'the someone else' who won it had bid quite alot on previous items belonging to my seller in the past too.

Hmmmmmmm, sounds like shill bidding to me.
Report to Ebay so they can investigate!

It might not be their fault if it has been lost in the post but it is their responibility until delivered so they should refund once the appropriate amount of time has passed (I think it's about 15 days for Royal Mail).
