:A Just came across this and signed up with the NHS UK transplant Register. Hope you do too.
Organ donation: the gift of life
Today more than 7,000 people in the UK need an organ transplant that could save or dramatically improve their life. Most are waiting for a kidney, others for a heart, lung or liver transplant. But less than 3,000 transplants are carried out each year.
Transplants are one of the most miraculous achievements of modern medicine. But they depend entirely on the generosity of donors and their families who are willing to make this life-saving gift to others.
Desperate need for more donors
There is a desperate need for more donors. Last year more than 400 people died while waiting for a transplant. One in ten people waiting for a heart transplant will die and many others will lose their lives before they even get on to the waiting list.
The more people who pledge to donate their organs after their death, the more people stand to benefit. By choosing to join the NHS Organ Donor Register you could help make sure life goes on.:T
To become an organ donor, please click here:

if this is for you (and you've discussed it with your Family), join up.:A

if you are thinking of signing up, it is important that you tell those closest to you about your decision.
this is not just like filling out a form for a freebie....think about it carefully first.
some Q & A here...

someone move it pleaseGONE ENGLAND0

I already have a donor card!0

From the site's FAQs:
"Do I need to register if I have a donor card?
Yes. Cards can and do get lost or damaged and you may not be carrying yours when you are taken to hospital. Adding your name to the register is a more permanent way of expressing your wishes. You can still carry a card if you wish to. Don't forget to tell your relatives what your wishes are".
Please register - and think about giving blood, platelets and bone marrow too. You are far more likely to NEED a transplant than to give one!
Mel.Though no-one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending.

can i ask why?
Because people on this forum are just used to quickly filling in their details on a form to claim a freebie..
This subject is NOT something that should be taken lightly and should be discussed with your close family members before doing anything...
the Q & A need to be read...people should understand the implications fully before signing up.0 -

whilst i get what you are sayig, and fully agree people should check what they are signing up to, surely its peoples own responsibilty to check what they are signing up to, otherwise they could be clicking on the spam links etc.
i thought it was a good idea and may make people think about it, bit like the lengthy breast feeding thread that was around for quite some time. jmho.

yes, I think it is a good idea, but just wanted to point out that its something people should think about and talk to their close family before doing so..
The first OP post says "Just click on sign me up and fill it in".....which is making it sound like one of the normal freebies on here, which it isnt.
Ultimately it IS your decision, yes, but what about your OH feelings about you doing it, or your parents/family etc. There are others to think about as well before signing up to something like this.0 -

i do agree with you, very much so that the first post could definatly have been phrased better, maybe along the lines of, if its for you, join up,
i do hope some people do discuss it with family & friends, and decide to sign up. and for anyone who doesn't want to thats fine too, its a personal choice, i just thought how nice it was to be brought into the open and maybe make people consider it when they might not have realised family/friends etc need to know. i never realised that having a donor card wasn't necessarily enough, so for me its made me think more about it,
