mobiles.co.uk cashback help !
Hi all,
I'm thinking of purchasing a galaxy s3 on contract this week from mobiles.co.uk and was particularly looking at a cashback deal. I understand that claiming cashback is easier said than done, and that I must follow the requirements exactly in order to make sure I get paid correctly. So I wanted to ask what rules exactly should I follow in simple terms to ensure I have no problems ( the website is not totally clear ).
I looked on their website and via their cashback calculator thing I worked out that I must claim in months 6, 9, and 12.
It states that 'The month you purchased your handset will be month 'Zero'. Month 'One' is your first full billed month. So for example, if you ordered your handset in January and need to claim in month 6, we will need your bill dated July'.
So if I received the phone next week and had it connected on say 19th July this would mean that I would need to claim with my bills dated January, April, and July next year right? What is unclear to me is the fact that as my contract isn't starting on the 1st of every month there will be 2 bills for January, April, and July, ie. December 19th to January 19th and January 19th to February 19th
This is confusing
can someone clarify this for me please?
I also understand that submitting bills online is slightly dodgy so I will be going the recorded delivery route.
So all I need to do is send a photocopy of these 3 bills as soon as I get them and ensure that my name, address, DOB, and mobile number are clearly displayed?
Are there any other things I should ensure I do?
What happens if I port my number ? How does this change the situation?
Should I also send the cashback amount i'm claiming with each bill ? (so this would be my total cashback divided by 3) or will they calculate this themselves?
Please help!!
thanks alot,
Josh

Firstly, your contract won't start on 1st of the month; I have no idea why you think it would. Your basic understanding is ok - but if you want to ensure you get all your cashback you should follow the detailed guidelines on that thread. I look after several peoples' as well as running 10 such contracts of my own, but unless you take a simplistic approach you really need a more thorough understanding than I have time to offer - that's why I wrote the guide.
Each circumstance is different and it's not just about how they are acting now (as a dealer). Most do get their money and find the process straightforward - but some come unstuck and dealers (especially CPW) sometimes (and unpredictably) either get it all wrong from their end or deliberately try to get out of paying. That's why you need to follow the guidelines. The wording of their t&c currently is contradictory and ambiguous - I am already watching about three of our contracts which could require - er - prompting - when it comes to the claims. Others (with the same dealer) are more straightforward. None of my contracts use three claims - so I presume you are getting a relatively small amount of cashback in total because you are going for one of the most expensive phones.0
