mortgage protection scheme...is this ppi?

Hello
In 1994 i took out a mortgage with halifax. Looking through the documents today i noticed a letter from standard life stating "The standard life assurance company have accepted the proposal from the halifax mortgage protection scheme"
Paid £3.22 a month for 11 years ( total years of mortgage).

My question being should claim for ppi?
And who do i claim from standard life or halifax

thankyou

Be careful with this mppi is the least upheld because I think it was the most regulated and at the end of the day if you cant repay your mortgage you lose your house.
Were you actually missold it? Have a read about MPPI on some of the other threads and see what they say.

no you shouldn't ring up and lie. you need a reason to put a claim in and you have none!

I have had 2 mortgages, 1 with The Woolwich Building Society and 1 with the Alliance & Leicester. Going back 30yrs and 11yrs I have no paperwork for either as I also got divorced 9yrs ago and a lot of paperwork was lost! I vaigley remember the words Mortage Protection being mentioned by both Building Societies, would it be worth my time sending a letter to both or are the mortgages to old and hard to prove without paperwork ?

That's grossly unfair to those who have legitimate claims.

I think i will ring up tomorrow and say "i believe i might have been mis-sold mppi " will let them decide. Its been nearly 20 years when i took out the mortgage and i can't remember if i did or did'nt agree.

    hi,

with the 30 year old one you would need your own paperwork, the bank is highly unlikely to have any after this long. the same goes for the 11 year old one.

mortgage protection, assuming it was setup monthly was actually a good thing, you stood to loose your house should you not pay the mortgage! what would be your reasons for a mis-sale?

they won't have any paperwork going back this far unless it is still currently running - the onus is on YOU to prove you were mis-sold not on the bank to tell you
