Ford Focus Scratch repairs

Hi all, hope you're well :)

I'm looking to sell my lovely Ford Focus 06 plate, but due to a few tight parking spaces I have a few scratches on the doors. I've purchased that stuff from the supermarket that looks like clay and whilst that's helped a little, I think the scratches are too deep.

Prior to selling it, I'd like to have them nicely repaired, but not sure where the cheapest place to look would be? A mechanic or the official Ford dealership?

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Probably one of the numerous cosmetic touch up firms if the scratches are not deep but IMO quality of their work varies considerably so try and get recommendation in your area. If you are selling/part exchanging in the trade often not worth having done as cost will outway the return but if selling privately may well be worth it.

111kab is right. Get a scratch and dent repair guy to do it. Much cheaper and they will come to your house to doit.

Thanks, when you say a scratch and dent repair guy, would that be a small local garage or somewhere like Halfords?

These are the sort of places being referred to.
    http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/
    http://www.autoscratch.co.uk/

They are generally run as a franchise operation, and as such, the quality of service could vary a lot between different branches so if at all possible, see if you can find someone from a recommendation.

i agree, i had a repair done by a chipsaway agent, the guy was totally incompetant at even making up a mix for standard british racing green, fubared the repair job resulting in the whole panel having to be redone. when phoning either of above ask for refrences, as theres no reputation of a solid garage there.

The chipsaway quote was £1.5k! Because all 4 panels need a degree of touching up/re-spray. Let's see what the others say!

I know! and trust me, they're only scratches with one of them deep enough to be considered a "dent". To be fair almost every panel has a small scuff or scratch (someone kindly scratched their keys on my car a few months back) but I think £1500 is pretty excessive.

    A few pointers

    Mechanics don't do bodywork
Main dealers don't always have their own bodyshop and will usually be the dearest place to go anyway.
Smart repairers generally do small repairs,ie a scuff on a bumper or a single panel so anything more than this and you'd be better off finding a good small independent bodyshop

Recommendation is the best way to go
