Am after a netbook/notebook (whats the difference?) up to about £240 to use with Word please?

Thanks

Netbooks are smaller/lighter and generally slower than notebooks. They also do not have optical drives.
As long as you are within the terms of the licensing agreement (i.e. it's not an OEM version and you're not installing it on more machines than the license allows) you can load MS Office by using an external optical drive, or by creating an image of the MS Office disk on a USB memory stick. How do I add a signature?0 -
This looks a good deal, particularly with the 2 year warranty.
Take Figment's advice re MS Office

I brought my mum an Acer Aspire 5733Z for £250 from a reputable store on eBay (noticed it in the eBay deals section), its a pretty decent Windows 7 laptop with a 15inch screen and more than enough grunt for Word etc0

eMachines E732z with a 1st Gen i3(if that is important to you) for £199.
A bit fiddly to add more RAM, but a 4GB module for £15 should speed things up.
Not a recommendation as such, just letting you know what is out there.
These were sold by Sainsburys for between £249.99 and £299.99.0 -
'All products sold through eBay Buy It Now carry a 3 month money back or exchange policy in the event of a fault'
A few weeks ago, somebody was advising against buying with such a short warranty.
Now, who was it? :think:0 -

I think that you are getting confused:Refurbished - 12 Month Warranty - 90 Day refund policy
It has a full warranty. The usual seven day 'no quibble' refund too.

I think that you are getting confused:
Actually I'm quite interested in this machine because of its spec and that MSI have built a good reputation with their netbooks, so I was wondering why you say it's 'Not a recommendation as such'.0 -

It isn't an MSI machine.0
