  • The pool at the PEC has limited opening hours in the mornings since I think groups of school kids use it. It is open 7.30-9.30 for early morning swim, then again about midday I think? It'll be on the website anyway.

I haven't gone to the yoga classes there but did go to other classes. I'd say they're a bit hit and miss, there was one great instructor, one reasonably good one and one who I thought was a bit creepy (just a personal opinion). I think I have heard good things about the yoga classes though.

Thanks for that, I will check out the website about the pool info.

Maybe I'll wait on the yoga classes and concentrate on the swimming lessons for now!

The PEC also provides swimming classes for beginners, improvers and advanced. They're great if you're learning to swim or want to perfect your technique. They cost £40 for 10 weeks as a member. Worth looking into.

Although they book up really really fast - I tried to sign up last year and apparently if you don't get in early on the day that booking opens you won't get a spot.

Just thought I'd let you know in case you do decide to sign up :)

i moved from jjb to david lloyd in hull this feburary at first it was pretty harsh the price difference £37.50 at jjb to £50 a month thats with a 15% discount as a coporate member cos of my job normal amount is 60...at david lloyd but everything at david lloyd is slightly better the biggest difference was u could actually get on machines without having to wait 15mins...

david lloyd slashed its prices about 2 months ago to bring it more in line with the big names now all gym memberships are £42 a month racquet sports are more but as expected but for 42 quid u get access to the gym pools and all the sessions they run and the facilities are the best least they are in hull no gym is better equiped than david lloyd.

as with most top branded gyms you have to sign up for a year, after a year you can quit at any time but have to pay up quartely so best to know if you going to leave well in advance not like you should ever go anywhere else ;p

I know this is the Northern Ireland thread but I just wanted to help out those in the UK.

Health & Fitness (Basic, gym + pool) package is £69.50.

If you can get corporate discount you get another £10 off.

At the moment there is no joining fee in March but you do have to pay £30 "set-up" fee (usually £75 apparantly!).

David lloyd is fantastic but you do pay for it. Its up to £74 a month not including rackets. No other gym is even close in terms of machines/space and how busy it is.
Anyone hear on the grape vine that they are in financial diffs due to the high price? im hoping the price will come down i just cant justify the cost even though its right beside me.

Several members of my family are members and seem pretty keen. Mind you, I have heard stories that would worry you but I suspect this is going to happen anywhere that you find a bunch of guys with nothing better to do than pump their guns all day long!

I am with Fredy on this. Esporta is actually where I would join but there are half a dozen clubs in the area which cost half as much.
    Always overestimating...
