Do all calls to 0844 numbers cost the same?

I've checked my phone bill and it appears that some 0844 numbers cost less than others. Some 0844 numbers seem to cost less for the same length of call. Is this normal?

Well I always thought that they were the same price per minute to be honest.

When you need to ring any of these numbers have a look at Saynoto0870, you can get most generic numbers from there, even better if you are on a plan where 01/02 numbers are free, mine are free after 7pm. My last call bill for a month was 50p, brilliant.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    No.

0.5ppm to just over 5ppm on a BT line depending on numbering range chosen by end user.

But thats only from a BT Line some other landline suppliers eg Virgin Media charge as much as 100% more.

Even worse from mobiles and payphones.

You can look this up on the providers websites but they all carry a connection fee (9.1p on sky for instance) then a per minute fee. The three digits after 0844 seem to determine this per minute fee. My old GP was 4.8p per minute, but the new one is 5p per minute.

I hate 0844 numbers. They are nothing but a rip off. And I think it's appalling when a service such as your GP uses them.

Find the charge band code at http://www.bt.com/pricing/current/Call_Charges_boo/1632_d0e5.htm#1632-d0e5
and then look up the price for the code at http://www.bt.com/pricing/current/Call_Charges_boo/0016_d0e5.htm#0016-d0e5 if you are a BT Retail customer, or look the code up on your provider's pages.

Charging information is based on the 6 digits AFTER the first 0, so check what your operator states it will charge for the number dialled, taking the first 3 digits after the first 0 tells you nothing!
