Check out Zamzar free, converts all sorts of formats.0

Install CutePDF Writer, a virtual printer that 'prints' to a PDF file instead of to paper.
Make sure you read the installation requirements as you need to install a PS2PDF Converter for CutePDF to workHow do I add a signature?0 -
Download a converter such as CutePDF.
I believe you can also convert online with Adobe.
If your CV is actually in .docx format (Office 2010) you can select Save As to make it .doc0 -
you guys are so quick to help thanks a lot:j:EasterBun GRAB EVERY OPPERTUNITY YOU GET ..YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG YOUR HERE FOR0

MS Word files are .doc. The issue may be that you have a recent version of Word (2007 or later) which by default saves files as .docx. If the place you are sending to is using an old version of Word they may not be able to open it correctly. In that case, rather than simply using Save, use Save As and in the Save as type drop down list select Word 97-2003 Document (you can also select PDF from this list if you want).0
-
Some versions of Word will let you Save As PDF directly - no need to mess around with pdf printers0

Any employer that hasn't worked out how to read Word docs sent as .docx files yet is probably not worth working for anyway...they've had 5 years being unable to open newer Word files-and presumably the same issue with Excel files? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I suspect you're right, although I have seen quite significant employers insist on receiving in .doc format. There really isn't much excuse, even if they don't want to upgrade their own software to a more recent version there's no reason not to download the compatibility pack - OK, the company IT set up may prohibit doing your own installs, but you could reasonably expect a company-wide update to have been done by now.0
