They always seem to flash at me when im actually doing the posted speed limit, in which case you'll see me defiantly giving them the middle finger.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It happened to me today - if they are set up to do that then they will just encourage people to ignore them (like the motorway fog warning lights).
Exactly, and they always seem to be set by the yocals in whatever village they reside, to flash you at anything over 25mph..... In fact there's one I recall over near Sutton Coldfield, which flashed me doing 22-23mph after i'd stopped for a bus, but did not flash me at 20mph in the same circumstances around 1 week later.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I remember years ago when they had the first one on the M1 in the road works in Nottinghamshire and they had to take it down as all the local bikers were whizzing through to see who cold post the fastest time and to calibrate their speedos.0 -

Not really. the actual speed was only 70mph, but the car speedo said 85mph, that's how inaccurate the car one was!0 -
As said before, people dont slam the breaks on like they do a speed camera so they could be safer.
I drove down the A41 Black Country Route between Wednesbury and Great Bridge yesterday, and leant against the bottom of the speed camera was a "serious incident here" witness request sign, and unfortunately a number of bouquets of flowers.0 -
Well, the automatic actual speed and speed limit signs work with me, even if it may be for the wrong reason. I "play" with them to see how accurate they are. Therefore. I'm doing the right speed. It always strikes me as a nice bit of reverse psychology. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

If the limit is 30 or 40, and not a temporary 20, then they are doing exactly what they're programmed to do.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I generally ignore them. They're so badly calibrated near me, (my speedo and GPS is 25, it flashes me at 31).
Better off sticking average speed cameras in all 30 zones - more lenient than a simple gatso as you can correct any errors over distance.0 -
