kwik fit not good

I too was silly enough to take my car into Kwik Fit for the convenience last month (nearby) Let's have a look at all my MOT's for a 4 and a half year old car

2009 - (dealership) - x1 Window Wiper - £8.40
2010 - (local garage) - PASS
2011 - (dealership) x1 rear bulb - £1.78
2012 - (Kwik Fit) - x1 coil spring, x2 brake pads, x1 brake disc, FULL exhaust system, tracking, - £685.21

I knew beforehand about their reputation, but I'm someone who keeps on top of maintenance and servicing. I budgeted for around £200 thinking they may get something, but boy they out did their self this time. They added on tracking as well, which hasn't been done correctly as the wheels shake (even more so) than they did before I took it in there. My steering wheel would very minatory shake as normal had I hit motorway speeds of 85+ as any car would, but NOW.. Driving at 65-70mph the steering wheel shakes, but it's a different kind of shake - As if they've tampered with it, and knackered the tracking

This cheap MOT is just to lure in people as word of mouth spreads about their shoddy business practices.


The real problem with Kwik-Fit is simple - All of the boys that work in them are "fitters", not mechanics. There's a difference, which is why they screw up a lot of cars and fail to correctly mend a fault or even find one
