How can I find hidden files without access to the Control Panel?

I moved about 1.84GB of files from my HDD onto a 2GB memory card in preparation for a return to factory settings. I then transferred (by copying) them onto the HDD of another PC, but a message came up saying some of the files were hidden and would not be transferred. Sure enough, the resulting file was short by 11,202,121 bytes. I realize they were important for the system and need replacing but I need to clear my memory card so I can download stuff here at the library. However, I don't have access to the Control Panel so how can I find out what they are?

Whoops, my bad When I said WIN-KEY + R, I meant WIN-KEY + E for Windows Explorer, and yes, that's the same as My Computer.
In XP, you should see a menu across the top of the My computer window. Click Tools > Folder Options > View (tab). Scroll down to Hidden files and folders and select the Show hidden files, folders and drives option
Click Apply > OK
As you're on a public computer, installation of software will be disabled, hence no .exe fileHow do I add a signature?0 -
As it's not your computer you should respect the restrictions Admin have put in place and not try to circumnavigate them.
This may or may not work depending on the policies in place.- Click Start.
- Open My Computer.
- Double click the drive letter that corresponds to your removable USB device.
- Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
- Select the View Tab. Under the Advanced settings > Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
- Click Apply > OK.
