Ikea Kitchen Sale

I have decided on an Ikea kitchen and will hold on for the sale if it is not too far away. Does anyone know when their sale of fitted kitchens is likely to start?

Also why do built in microwaves cost at least £250? The seem like the £30 one we use now with a bit of a surround?

I can see how that justifies the 8 fold increase in price.

Looks like a Framtid for me then.

We're looking for built in fridge/freezers and washing machine to with a Ikea kitchen but found that fridge/freezers and WM don't have much choice and very expensive, where as free standing ones have so much variety.

We bought our IKEA kitchen last winter and there seemed to be different deals on regularly. We missed the window for an x% off kitchen doors deal, but the next deal was £100 voucher for every £1000 spent, which worked out better for us. I'd suggest signing up for their emails to be first to know about offers.

Also check Bargain Corner for integrated appliances, no one can see the dings once they are fitted :) We got both our dishwasher & freezer from there both about half price and still in packaging but dinked in the warehouse/in transit! Very MSE :D

I had more trouble finding a reasonably priced fridge freezer as few are on dispay and many are much more expensive. Another MSE member suggested Euronics shops. I went to my local one and am on the point of ordering a frost free Hotpoint one for under £400. I know that their reputation has gone down but i have had a good experience with them so I am prepared to take the risk. I am spending more on other appliances. I am getting a washing machine from John Lewis because of their 3 year guarantee.

Our last kitchen was Ikea and i can vouch for the quality. They hold up very well but unfortunately the door fronts aren't standard height i believe.

For the quality the pricing is excellent. We got our entire kitchen done much cheaper than elsewhere, so if you manage to get offers the kitchen you want you will do very very well.

We did wait for offers, the only one we got was that voucher offer already mentioned.

We've just bought an Ikea kitchen and we had the following offers from our local store (Cardiff). Check out the home page for each store and they will show you the offers available. Perhaps it's worth travelling to another store if there are better offers than your local one.

20% off all doors or '4 for 3' on all appliances. Choice of two offers, but guess there is nothing to stop you from buying two orders at seperate times.

£100 gift card for every £1000 that you spend.

2 years interest free credit on orders over £3k.

There were also some offers that came into play with the family card. We had money off our dishwasher when the family card was entered.

Are Ikea kitchens and appliances standard sizes? I don't want to be stuck with Ikea carcasses and appliances in the future if other makes can't be mixed and matched.

Yes they are, you will have no problems on that score. What can give problems when fitting Ikea kitchens is that they have no service gap at the back of the units, meaning any pipework and cablling either has to be chased into the walls or is visible inside cupboards. This also makes fitting a right pain if your walls are not true.

They are value, but not without a few quirks, nevertheless at that pricepoint they are overall better than most.
