crackling/interference during calls - in and out

over the last few days I have had problems when making and receiving calls. I get through to them and they get through to me but there is a lot of crackling on the line, making it hard for me and the person I am speaking to to understand each other.

The noise is similar to what you would get if you were trying to tune a radio in and couldn't get a signal. Is this likely to be a problem with the phone or is there any chance it could be a problem with the network - Virgin?

You could test the phone by moving to open areas and see if it improves. Mostly likely its the phone or interference if you are in a building.

Or possibly the sim card, test it in another phone.

don't think it's got anything to do with the location, as I have tried it in different places. I tried to phone someone earlier this evening and had to give up and wait until I got home to use my landline. They thought it was because they were in the city centre, lots of tall buildings etc. but I think it's my phone.

How could it be caused by the SIM card? Might be getting a new phone soon and swapping the SIM so bit worried now!
