Do homeplugs come with more than 1 Ethernet port?

My Wifi downstairs is awful - one bar - so I'd like to use a wireless homeplug to improve it, but also give my TV, Sky box and maybe the Blu-ray player some internet, too. However, I can't find any homeplugs with more than 1 Ethernet port.
Do I have to go down the route of a router, instead, so I can use its 4 Ethernet ports?

don't you have a router already, can it be moved closer on a phone extension if necessary!!

You only need a switch, not a router which is more complex and more expensive.
Amazon will get you a four port switch for less than £10!0 -
Yes here's an example http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline-av-3pe.htm
You could also use a single port version with a switch which would give you the additional ports you require, no additional software required eg http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=4-port+switch&!!!!!googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=9936099771&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16362116972024918758&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_c792nts5f_b0 -
Just plug the single Ethernet port into a network switch, then you can have 4 ,8, 16 etc ports available.
My last 4 port switch was something like £6 from Ebuyer0 -
You can get homeplugs with a built in Wifi AP. I'm sure I've seen them with more than one ethernet port, there is certainly no technical reason why not.
Or, you can just plug a normal ethernet hub/switch into a homeplug. Not a router, as it will start trying to do DHCP and other silly things untless you turn all that off and make it behave as a switch.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
The router is upstairs in a far corner of the house and can't be moved. It's the Sky Sagemcom, which I've heard is pretty weak.
Are the switches simply plug and play, so I don't need to constantly switch from one to the other? Are they all pretty much the same?
Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=4-port+switch&!!!!!googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=9936099771&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16362116972024918758&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_c792nts5f_b#/ref=nb_sb_noss/279-9459696-4029642?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=4-port+switch+ethernet&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3A4-port+switch+ethernet

They all seem around £20 - £35 though.

Netgear advertised one in a magazine a few months ago that sparked my interest. It had capability of 500Mbits, 4 ports and a pass through socket...
...Just I've never seen it for sale on any of the major internet retailers!
It'd been perfect for the TV, BluRay, PS3 and SkyHD box0 -
What you asked for does exist
For neatness a 4 port powerline network adaptor would make sense
Maybe this WD 4 port kit? (ebuyer) or Here from Amazon
Plug one next to your modem router with a patch cable and plug the other 4 port device next to your devices and use short patch leads to connect them all up, fairly simple and neat.

The WD 4-port unit looks nice, but it isn't wireless.
I need to improve the wireless downstairs as well as provide 3-4 or more Ethernet ports for TV, Sky box, etc.
I guess it'll have to be a standard wireless homeplug with the single Ethernet (on the one downstairs) plugged into an Ethernet switch of some sort.0 -

Switches are plug & play.
You could put homeplug near yr router and a 1 or 3 port homeplug near yr kit and just add a wireless access point plugged into one of the homeplug ports for the wireless capability - http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WA901ND-Advanced-Wireless-Access/dp/B002YETVXC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342207530&sr=8-10
