A ticket from (the) Met !

I had just pulled up to park in a free-for-two hours parking area, when I noticed a car there with an invoice on from Met Parking. I saw the woman about to get into the car, and told her the usual of ignoring it, not contacting etc. Then she went up to the rep from Met and started to have a go at him.

I started by telling him that they have no legal force and he then pointed out that she had two wheels well onto the pavement and somebody in a wheelchair had difficulty getting past (I don't know if that is true). I don't know the woman and have no means of contacting her, but I would consider it was inconsiderate parking. She could have easily parked along the side the kerb without causing an obstruction.

I had further discussions with the rep and mentioned about ignoring the invoice etc., to which he laughed. He said one car who ignored 5 such invoices had their car towed away, and was taken to court by Met who won. Is there any likelihood of either statement being correct?

No. they can't clamp or tow away without clear signs

Met have never issued a court claim at all anywhere. Here is a list of all PPC's who issued court claims in 2011. Met is not there.

In fairness, you can hardly expect a PPC attendant to have been told the truth. I regard them as just as much victims of the PPC owners as us motorists and maybe even some car park owners . They have to issue enough tickets to pay their wages, or else. They're just trying to earn a crust. What you do for a job doesn't necessarily define your worth as a person.

Everytime I see an attendant there, I enter a discussion with him (it is a different one everytime!).

Today, he tells me they do tow away cars and tried to describe me where they take them. He said there were some guys "just like you" laughing about it and parked there over the time limit (2 hours). The company came and arranged for them to be towed away .. one by one!

I presume the company gives them briefings of what to say to disgruntled motorists! I always leave them on good terms, by saying I realise that they are just doing their job.

If the signs don't mention the risk of being towed then its illegal. You might want to point that out.

Also, you'd eventually get someone on here or PePiPoo claiming it had happened, and we've never ever seen one case.

    Its a...... [pause].... [press button]...

    LIE.

Call his bluff and ask him what they plan to do come 1st of October. The blank expression will no doubt give away his lack of knowledge of what is going on.

Why get involved with the goons who actually ticket the cars? If you do get ticketed by PPC goon, you just ignore it - so why waste your time engaging with the goon in the first place??

Because I used to enjoy winding up my little fat thick friend from Parking Eye. Sadly he has now been replaced by cameras which don't seem to take the bait quite as easily

I have been ticketed by two of them. Once in my car and once in my wife's car. Both have been ignored and both have seemingly gone away (since May this year).

Private clamping and towing is being banned. Made a criminal offence. :D
