A Yorkshire Lass's debt diary

Good Afternoon everyone :hello:
Well today is the first day of spring and what a glorious day it's been here in Leeds. It's freezing cold but beautiful sunshine and blue skies.
I wasn't going to start my diary just yet but I thought there was a good connection between spring coming and my need to 'spring clean' my debts.
I did start a spending diary in January and had such good intentions of keeping it up to date, but unfortunately by early February I couldn't be bothered writing in it every day
As I visit this site each day I thought maybe if I start a diary here, I will be more inclined to keep it going. I know there are loads of diaries on this site and if no-one wants to read mine then ok, but I think for me psychologically, this is the best thing I could do.
Today I have been to Sainsbury's for my weekly shop and I have spent £37. I am a more canny shopper now (since discovering MSE) but I still spend a bit too much on 'luxuries' which I feel we deserve and this is where I need to keep track.
If anyone wants to read my diary then please feel very welcome. I will post on here every day and look forward to sharing my experiences with you all.

Yorkslass - welcome & people do read the diaries, I'm finding MSE website to become v addictive.
You mention in your signature bank charges 2253, has this already been awarded, if so well done.0 -
Hi wilky and thanks for reading.
As for the bank charges, yes the Nat West repaid £2,253 of unlawful charges from our account. I started the ball rolling last August and it got to the online court stage awaiting a court date in Leeds. All along the Nat West maintained the charges were fair and legal but on November 5th I received full settlement of my claim. We have since 'parted company' from the Nat West after more than 20 years of banking with them and moved to A&L.DMP starts June 2012, £38,180.

Well done with the bank, i'm just at the start of mine with Lloyds, £2.5k they owe on my personal & £1k on my old business account.
Your debt is around the same as mine is currently, but I dont have any excess cash to start paying them off, have just wrote to my creditors offering a token £1 pm until I can get more income in.
Considered IVA - no go as too much equity in my house
Considered BR - no go as I dont want to loose my house
Considered Payplan - no go as they say I have no spare cash
Considered going to Africa to live in the jungle - but they'd find me there
Considered doing a plasters course to gain extra income - but the course is £100 quid & then I'd need the tools.
Dont know what else to consider !0 -
I will be reading with interest as I am also in Leeds

Hi ginger and welcome :hello:
This site is FANTASTIC and a great source of info and advice. Also, all the people (well with the odd exception) are so friendly and helpful - in time, it's as though you've been friends for ages

Evening everyone - it's very late and I am off to bed in a mo' but thought I'd just update.
Have been out tonight for a meal with friends and managed to only spend £15. I also spent £3.30 on 3 birthday cards today and £3.60 on some Zantac tablets as I felt lousy this afternoon! and without them I wouldn't have gone out tonight.
Had a lovely meal at a local Italian and it was good to catch up with my friend who now lives in Portugal.
Anyway I am knackered so am going to bed now - goodnight everyone

Hey Kaz
I will be reading with interest too as it's YOU!
You are doing GREAT - keep going! Hope you had a good rest after your enjoyable evening, your tummy feels better and Friday flies by for you
Look forward to the next update.Leason learnt :beer:0 -
Hey moozie what a lovely message - you made me feel all gooey:grinheart
I had a lovely meal last night and told DD (13) that I should be home for about 9:30pm and would pop into her room and give her a kiss. As it happens, we were sooo busy talking I didn't get home until 11:10pm!!! and both DD and DH were both tucked up in bed fast asleep.
Unfortunately my tummy hasn't been any better today and I have hardly eaten anything. I'm not feeling hungry though, more nauseous and feel very bloated. Hope it's just a bug or a reaction to something I've eaten and nothing more serious
Anyway we women are made of strong stuff, so on I go
Today I haven't spent anything other than £43!!!! on food from Sainsbury's and that's because DH came with me!!! We always spend more when he's there so I usually go on my own.
Well guys I'm off for a bath now, working all weekend and could do with an early-ish night, so goodnight god bless 'friends' all have a good weekend.

Well today has been really busy at work - mid-season sale and it seemed everyone was out clothes shopping today.
DH had ordered pizza & burger take away so that cost us £13.50 and I spent £1 on some cards and 2 pressies for a party DD is going to tomorrow (refunded an item I bought last week as well).
DD and DH are about to watch 'Derailed' on sky and I'm settling down to watch Eastenders which I taped on Thurs and Fri, then I'm off to bed as am at work tomorrow and losing the hour tonight will throw me
Enjoy the rest of the weekend peeps,
