I had a1.7CDTI ECO 4 astra did 20k a year in it. It was a nice car to drive, fairly quick and very economical with that ECO set up and cheaper VED.

Never had a problem with DMF or anything else but I did change after 3 years. Would have happily kept it as our second car but we already had something better suite to our needs at the time.

If you do go the Astr route either way I would hav ethought the CDTI was the better option overall for all the DMF issue s reported there must be loads more without issue they are just popular/numerous cars.

why not look at the diesel civic? for £2500 you might get an 04/54 plate model, it's a 1.7 diesel (it's an Isuzu engine, not a Honda engine) but it's a great car.

on the motorway I get 60mpg+
Is this the same/similar engine to the 1.7 CDTI in the Astra?
