But think what it will do for her legs and backside. The OP won't need to do the trophy wife thing and add a gym/spa subscription to the cost of her 4x4! ;)

That's the rolls-royce of trikes right there though. Still, I like your thinking.

My wife is not very confident behind the wheel of a car so I'm considering buying her a big 4x4, something along the lines of a Mitsubishi Warrior or Range Rover. I think this way she will feel alot safer and more confident because she will be driving a big vehicle. It will only be used to do the school run and the weekly shop, it will certainly never go off road except when she mounts the kerb outside the kid's school.

    Opinions please
Thank you very very much for informing us that the roads are about to get more dangerous, please also attach big neon signs to your new 4x4 to warn other road users, using it to pick up the kids? better inform the school as well tell them to watch out for a driver that lacks confidence in a big 4x4 3 tonn child killing machine on it way.

on a serious note have you any sense? surly your wive lacking confidence in a small vehicle is just going to get even scaryer in a 3 ton 4x4, how is putting a person who is shittinh herself in a small car going to !!!! her self less in a 4x4? how about this why not sit in a small car with your wife until she is more confident

I have changed my little Ford Ka for a Honda CRV as i wanted a 4 x 4 as i live up a steep hill and the previous three winters have had difficulty in getting home, sometimes having to abandon my car in the village hall car park along with other people living on the same road who did not have 4 x 4's. We also get a lot of surface water on the country roads around us which did tend to make driving in a little Ka rather difficult. The Honda did the best in a lot of the car magazine surveys for used 4 x 4's.
The only thing I would say about 4 x 4's are they seem more difficult to reverse (even with the parking sensors that my Ka did not have) as I am not good at reversing. However as it was my decision to get a bigger vehicle I know I will have to practice and practice until I am confident handling the bigger vehicle. Everything else about the vehicle is great. Would a larger 4 x 4 be a bit difficult to handle, I know I would not have the confidence with a RR and would be so frightened of pranging it!!!

My partner is quite happy nipping around in her 206, but does prefer to drive my shogun. However if she has to go on any motorways she will only drive the shogun, feels much safer and relaxed with the higher driving position and bigger car.

If she's not happy driving now a big 4x4 is the last thing she should be put in. If she wants something with a higher seating position and to make her feel safer a small 4x4 like the CRV RAV 4 or mk1 Freelander would be much better or is it you that wants the RR and you are looking for an excuse to buy one.

GF had no issues at all in the deep snow with her KA, in fact she was the only person in her street that managed to get up the hill to the top of the road..... Beating several 4x4's in the process.

Maybe the correct tyres would have been cheaper than a new car?

IF this is for real, and I do understand wanting to sit high up (although if everyone keeps sitting higher and higher where will it end?!) so how about a Daihatsu Terios? About the same footprint as a supermini, can probably see the end of the bonnet, and the rear window is basically the back of the car.

Yes, but is it cool, and will it impress the other mums?

Cars that have the axles separate from the body with a sciscor lift in between, like Dastardly's car in the Wacky Races.
