It still works ok on my Primus line.

If you dial, for example, an 0844 number, then 18185 cannot connect you to that.

Best to be with BT. Apparently for some regulatory reason, they have to allow over-ride providers.

You only pay BT £10 per month line rental (if you pay for a year upfront), and with 18185 the calls cost peanuts.

Read my email. BT have to allow over-ride providers. Other phone companies can and do bar over-ride providers. Even if they initially allow them, this can change when you are partway through a contract.

    With BT it can't happen.

Cheap line rental and 18185 for calls. Sorted!

What e-mail are you on about ? BT is not the only way. I can get cheaper line rental ,inclusive evening and weekend calls, no minimum term ,with a supplier that allows 18185 access, and if it stops which is very unlikely, i want have to pay for cancelling contract.

Sorry - typo - I meant (previous) post.

Who are you with then, who has cheaper line rental than £10 per month, allows 18185, and has no minimum term contract (and doesn't insist you take any other package eg broadband, mobile or TV to cross-subsidise it)?

BT,s Line Rental is only £129 a year if you pay it in advance. Many people dont want to/ cant afford to pay it upfront.

So they use cheaper suppliers rather then pay BT monthly, line rental of £14.60 a month. Some suppliers include evening and weekend geographical calls in the line rental price which suits them, unlike BT who now charge for the priviledge.

Horses for Courses comes to mind.:D
