DMP provider won't arrange a DMP if I don't accept their figures.

I have around £8,000 debt and recently talked to one of the major DMP provider.
I discussed my budget sheet with them but they didn't agree with my figures. I tried to justify the expenses to them, but they weren't interested at all about my justification. After a long chat they pretty much told me that if I don't agree with their figures they won't arrange the DMP.
So what should I do at this point? I'm feeling frustrated and can't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Which DMP provider was it? Can you tell us what the figures are that they don;t agree with?
There isn't really a lot you can do other than try another provider, they are under no obligation to accept you.
Post your SOA up here and see if we can help maybe?

they kinda have to keep within the guidelines so creditors will not ask any questions when submitted ur income and expenditure form.... hopefully it is one of the free dmp providers u are talking about??
with regards to the i&e make sure u add everything ie pet insurance fees... no? u do now.... tobacco... u do now... glasses, dentist, prescriptions...all included.... it may make it easier to justify/wiggle ur figures if u include all on the i&e form that they allow x good luckLBM April 2012.... It was one of the free providers (PayPlan.com). I put pretty much everything in my budget sheet i.e. glasses, prescriptions, gifts/expenses for social occasions such as religious festivals, birthdays etc. Payplan didn't agree with some of those breakdowns at all and told me that they need to come out of housekeeping fund. They suggested a housekeeping fund which is not realistic IMO. I will post a comparison between my figures and their figures shortly.0

They can only accept £2 a week for prescriptions. You have the option of getting a prepayment certificate. It was one of the free providers (PayPlan.com). Gifts are not accepted.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

to be honest i found payplan extremely generous when it came to the budget.... we are family of 5 with dog and they have allowed £500 for food budget!!! this to me is hugeeeee and allows me now to put aside any surplus into an emergency fund... something we have never had xLBM April 2012.... 1. 2 mobile phones on contract for me and missus £90/month - Payplans figure is £50. I told them they are on contract and one of them will be due for renewal in September but I won't upgrade the phone which will reduce the bill.
2. I put down £30/month for kitchenware, bedware, linens etc. Payplan suggested they come out of housekeeping budget.
3. They don't agree with my gym membership which is £38/month. I told them that I work in IT industry so don't get enough physical activities on day to day basis. Gym membership is necessary to reduce stress. I also mentioned them that sometime ago I was being treated/counseled for severe depression and anxiety and my doctor suggested me that I spent sometime in gym.
4. I put down £18/month for lottery, they said it must come out of housekeeping.
5. I put down £50/month for outings/hobbies and they are not happy with it.
6. For cables, satellite, and landphone I spend £60/month. They said £30. I told them that we watch a few international channels which are not free. The land-phone also includes unlimited phone calls to Australia where my in laws live.
7. We keep aside/spend £40/month for occasions such as birthdays, religious festivals, anniversary etc. They are not happy with it.
I also mentioned them that, I don't spend any money for tobacco, alcohol etc. but need to spend a reasonable amount of money outings and stuffs.
Please suggest me if what I'm doing is correct.0 -
Crikey, not surprised they didn't accept that lot.
You haven't had your LBM and are still trying to live beyond your means. There's not a single figure you have written that I would agree with - they are all luxuries.
And luxuries you cannot afford. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

It's not correct...it's very wrong in fact.0 -

I agree with payplan. Based on the BBA/MAT trigger figures £90 a month on phone costs is excessive.1. 2 mobile phones on contract for me and missus £90/month - Payplans figure is £50. I told them they are on contract and one of them will be due for renewal in September but I won't upgrade the phone which will reduce the bill.
Again I agree with payplan. £30pm for those items as a seperate item of expenditure is excessive and I can't see creditors agreeing to it.2. I put down £30/month for kitchenware, bedware, linens etc. Payplan suggested they come out of housekeeping budget.
If you can get a statement from your doctor to support it they may accept it. Is this seperate to a 'hobbies/leisure' budget or included?3. They don't agree with my gym membership which is £38/month. I told them that I work in IT industry so don't get enough physical activities on day to day basis. Gym membership is necessary to reduce stress. No way will your creditors accept £18pm on lottery which is a total luxury/non essential. That £18pm should be going towards paying your creditors.4. I put down £18/month for lottery, they said it must come out of housekeeping.
You didn't say how your household is made up, but if this is in addition to your gym then I would agree with payplan that it's excessive unless you have children.5. I put down £50/month for outings/hobbies and they are not happy with it.
I agree with payplan's figure. Satellite tv is a non essential especially if you have specialist channels. Phone costs would be included in with your mobiles which is already excessive.6. For cables, satellite, and landphone I spend £60/month. They said £30. I told them that we watch a few international channels which are not free. The land-phone also includes unlimited phone calls to Australia where my in laws live.
I don't think £40pm is excessive if you have children, but at the end of the day your creditors will not be happy with you spending money on luxuries for other people rather than paying your debts with that money..7. We keep aside/spend £40/month for occasions such as birthdays, religious festivals, anniversary etc. They are not happy with it.
That's fine, but payplan and all DMP companies/charities have guidelines for what is deemed as reasonable expenditure and what creditors will accept. If you force through a DMP with excessive expenditure your creditors may refuse to agree to it which is against the point of doing it in the first place.I also mentioned them that, I don't spend any money for tobacco, alcohol etc. but need to spend a reasonable amount of money outings and stuffs.
You can easily/actively reduce your expenditure where needed. At the end of the day changes can be made and you'll get your debt paid off quicker by cutting back on non essentials/luxuries.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
