Don't know my MPG as pretty sure the fuel guage isn't very accurate but I tend to top up £30 every 2 weeks and do about 60 miles a week if I'm just using it for work and back.
Had it since Feb and so far spent £80 on replacing the headlights with non sealed units and £40 on a rear bumper.
    Insurance £320

Other car is a BMW 318i SE from 1997. As I share it with my boyfriend I don't honestly know what the mpg is on that either but it's very economical considering it's a BMW, last time I drove it nearly 50 miles in one go the needle barely dropped.
We've had that since last November and we've spent £180 on tyres (it has M3 wheels), something like £30 on brake pads and £50 on an MOT.
    Insurance £650

Car 1. Old Freelander that puts a smile on your face when there's a foot of snow in the winter and a foot of water or 6 inches of mud in the summer.
Car 2. Saab Convertible that puts a smile on your face the rest of the time with the roof down.
Costs other than tax insurance and service over the last three years 1 tyre and 2 wiper blades on the freelander. 4 tyres and 2 wiper blades on the Saab.
Cost per mile. No idea but it's not enough to make us think about selling one of them.

'61' plate Ford S-Max 2.2 TDCi, 79616 miles, £20/wk insurance (averaged out), £294.32 last week in diesel and £25 maintenance (averaged out).

'12' Jag XF Portfolio S, 18000-ish miles (her car), £30/wk insurance, £150/week diesel, £9 maintenance (so far, although it's only been seen by the deal once)

My little old 1981 ZiL 115 LHD. Shows 56000km (that's been round at least 4 times), petrol when it's needed (about 18p/mile), the servicing scares me, as I need to order the bits in from Russia , but about £500/yr. £216/yr insurance. Still got the original Soviet plates that the car had before the Russian ones

Got a RAF 977 LHD in bits in the garage. On Georgian plates, and I don't think it's going anywhere any time soon! It's like the old VW Campervans!

Are your sure? 11p per mile must be pretty much what your fuels costs are (e.g. 60 mpg @ 135.9 p/L is 10.3p per mile). You must be paying something for maintenance (tyres, brakes etc), insurance, servicing and VED.

Trying to do comparisons without including depreciation are really not giving the full picture. Similarly including insurance costs aren't particularly helpful since they are dependent on who the driver is, not just the car.

    But for what it's worth:

My last car was a 1997 Renault Megane eRN Paris 1.4L petrol (NOT a quality car!) Over the 10 years that I owned it, and including depreciation, I drove 51,797 miles for a total cost of £13,798.30 which is an average cost per mile of 26.6p.

My current car is a 2005 Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi. Over the first year of ownership I drove about 10,000 miles, at an estimated cost per mile of 39p (including an estimated depreciation of £1500).

    Rover 600 - cost £500 with 12 months MOT
Does 26 mpg (£70 last about 5-6 weeks)
    Insurance £280 per year
    Tax £220

Spent no other money on it since I bought it 16 Feb 2012.

I've had a little more time to work this out properly.

    Car cost £500
    Insurance £280
    Tax £220
Initial outlay to get on the road-£1000

974 miles covered since 16/02/12 (purchase date) at a cost of £239.39 (fuelly.com) which in pure fuel mileage terms is £0.246 per mile.

    so....

    £1000 + £239.39 = £1239.39 / 974 miles = £1.27 per mile.

Watch that drop as the miles add up though ;)

    I recently changed from a 2.0 litre Citroen C5 Auto(03),£270 tax,£370 insurance,around £40 a week petrol to a Renault Clio 1.2(09)£120 tax,£200 insurance and £20 a week petrol.
So my motoring costs are down from £2133 per year to £1066 per year,or £177 per month down to £88 per month.
Extra money for the horses and fags!! :)
