Best at Travel - Not returning deposit!

Hi guys,

On 30th March I booked a holiday for two through Best at Travel to Bali for 8 nights from 30th October.

The deposit was £300 and I put in another £100 on top so far, bringing the total monies paid to £400.

Unfortunately my circumstances have changed and I am no longer able to go on the holiday. I notified them of this yesterday after having checked the cancellation policy in their T&Cs, which read:
More than 12 weeks prior to departure - Loss of deposit
84-55 days prior to departure 50%
54-30 days prior to departure 75%
29- 0 days prior to departure 100%
When notifying them, I explained that I'd have expected 50% of the deposit back (so would only have expected to lose £150 in total). I received a prompt reply informing me that I would lose 100% of the deposit..

I have not replied or called them up yet, but cannot really make sense of their answer with the above T&Cs in mind.

Can anyone help advise?

    Forgot to include that!

We depart for 8 nights from 30th October, which, according to my calculations is about 109 days away..

More than 12 weeks = loss of deposit. Whether this is £300 or £400 I don't know, but it's not £150

The way i read that statement is cancellation before 12 weeks loses the deposit. For cancellations within 12 weeks, the % will be of the total cost, not just the deposit.

You have cancelled befoe the 12 week limit so will be due to lose 100% of deposit. I could be wrong though. And I 've no idea how they will treat the extra £100 you paid.

Yes, it says that very clearly in the T&Cs that you posted. I'm not sure why you asked the question.

Why should it? Have you asked them?

You have lost your deposit as already said but they should return the extra £100. When did you contact them to cancel ? It will take them time to process the refund of the extra above the deposit .
    TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T

    Hi guys,

What if I asked to go to a different resort, still in Bali? The trouble is, my girlfriend booked this place on the rush and tbh it doesn't look too great.

Do you think they'd be amicable to keeping the dates and flights etc, but simply change the resort?

    Any opinions?

Check the T&C's as there may be an admin charge for making a change plus any difference in cost.

If you asked to cancel, it may be too late to make any changes to a holiday that no longer exists. This shows the need to think, or ask questions, before and not after acting on impulse. Sorry for your losses
