If like me you are being plagued by cold callers, you might like to add your weight to a representation to the Westminster Government to outline cold calling to UK telephone numbers.
If enough people express their displeasure at avin eir home life disrupted by these needless intrusions, something just might be done - as currently, there are no plans to legislate.
You only have a month to respond, so do it while you can!

No it won't.
1. The Government wouldn't do this as it would add thousands of call centre workers to the unemployment lists.
2. Even if they did decide to do it, it would take years to enact.
3. They could not stop calls from overseas - where many come from already to get round the TPS.
a. Buy a phone with:
i. Caller display
ii. An answer machine
iii. Call barring capability.
When the phone rings, see who it is. If you know the name/number answer it, if you don't, let it go to the answer machine. If it is a cold caller they will hang up, if it is a genuine call they will leave a message. If an actual number is displayed on your phone (not "witheld" or "International") Google it, if it is shown as a known cold caller put it into your phone as a barred number.

I agree with the above, but the supplier I am with charges £2 a month for caller display. Why should I be forced to pay because I have to screen calls because of idiots ringing me up?
It isn't fair. But according to the phone company, it happens to millions of people, so tough!0 -

As the industry has largely moved overseas, any restrictions will not have he effect YPK believes. Do remember, it is cold calling that is being outlawed, and if I came across a Govt that felt I should have to endure this to keep call centres in business, I'd vote em out pretty quick.0 -
OK I've signed too. Can anyone tell me how to get to the forum on telephone cold callers? I had it last week but have lost it again. Thanks:mad:0
