Vanquis Credit Card

Donel261,
I am not a fan of Vanquis, but without them, how would you be able to gain credit and tidy up your credit report?
The single mothers and people on state benefits have to show the same strength in choice as you, or should single mothers and people on state benefits be excluded from applying?
As long as they don't mislead anyone then they should charge whatever they can.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

The problem with credit cards like this is that they know that its people on the breadline through either no fault of their own or because they have been silly with money in the past that have these type of cards..so ultimatly they are preying on the vunerable..and boy dont they just!!!
Capital One offers a credit card to those with a poor credit rating at 31% APR which i think is less than vanquis is it not?
maybe worth switching...
but you should be paying off your balance every month if you can then you pay no interest!0 -
My vanquis card rate has just gone up to 47% after a year.
spendalotgottostop, I have been rebuilding my credit rating for 2 years now, with the help of vanquis, capital one, nationwide flex account, asda store card and an o2 contract, without missing a payment... And I still can't get normal APR credit.0 -
Why not call them and ask them to reduce your limit??
They have to do it if you askMan who stands on toilet is high on pot. - Old chinese proverb.0 -
Simple, keep the DD setup to pay off in full every month, that way you can only spend a certain amount
A higher credit limit will look better on your credit record0 -
Well I've had a Barclaycard for 5 years now and my credit record is still !!!!!!. My 5000 limit has been lowered to 4140 and whenever I apply for any other cards "computor says NO". Ive been living abroad for most of this time aswell so i havent taken out any other credit and got in debt. In fact i would have thought any bad faults on my credit record would have been wiped off by now but its seems no. earnings seem to count for nothing.
Last month Ive started paying the balance in full by DD. See how my credit rating shapes up now, but I doubt it well improve.
I'd like to know If anyone has actually got one of these credit cards, Barclaycard intial, Vanquis, Capital 1, Aqua,. From a poor rating cleaned it all up and got themselves to stage where they could apply for an American Express card (get excepted) and walk into Natwest or HSBC and get themselves a mortage no problem?0 -

....and ME!! (see thread on barclaycard lowering my credit limit!)
Vanquis were, and are still fine, crap interset rate but excellent customer service, as are Aqua. Capital One classic, customer service ok but never had a problem with them. 14 days into my Barclaycard Platinum after bt from 'dodgy cards' and now I dont have any credit thanks to Barclaycard lowering my limit! Seems like the higher the charge the better the service!!:mad:0 -
