Hi Fortune - what a lovely few days you've had :) and yes, I feel like its spring too - I was out for a walk round the block yesterday, and the trees were definitely glowing with buds ... wonderful to see.

  • There's blossom on the cherry plum tree at the bottom of my garden :)

    I love Spring :j
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • ... Spring is springing! :j

    Today's MS:
    • Step class this morning. Haven't been for a week so it was very hard :o
    • Waitr0$£ delivered. Free cherry tomatos and king prawns :T due to short sell by dates so only a couple of pounds over budget after all
    • a 42p Tillytidy
    • Stir Fry Duck Fillets with Noodles & Hoisin Sauce from the meal plan for supper
    • followed by Toffee Apple Pudding :D I only made it to use up a sulky Bramley I discovered at the bottom of the fridge but it turned out to be a little piece of heaven on a plate :A Do try it - so easy to make and absolutely delicious with cream!
The washing up is done, Mr F has lit the log burner, there's a glass of red within reach so time to snuggle up on the sofa for a snoozy Friday evening.

    Have a great weekend everyone

Sounds idyllic, FS, have a lovely weekend yourself xx
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • well not much :o
    • what a lovely day it was yesterday. I managed to get out in the garden and finish up the tidying in preparation for the new Spring growth
    • spent most of the rest of the day cooking:
    • Avocado on Toast with Chorizo & Fried Eggs for lunch to use up an Avocado I found sulking at the bottom of the salad tray
    • baked the following for Mr F's lunches: Bitter Orange & Poppy Seed Cake, Stilton & Poppy Seed Sables and another batch of Breakfast Muffins this time made with Bramley & Lemon Curd and Raisins instead of Apple Sauce and Blueberries (Tilly - the Orange Cake is brilliant for using up jars of marmalade :))
    • Baked Gnocchi with King Prawns & Sage from the meal plan for supper. It was the first time I'd tried this recipe and I wasn't keen - strange combination of flavours
    • Mr F spent all day and all night in the garage last night so I insisted he came out with me today to buy me a new laptop  Not as bad as it seems. My old laptop had a broken battery, broken fan and broken bits falling off it at regular intervals. I've been saving some of my personal spends each month to buy a new one. I've also been researching laptops on the internet and finally made a decision on the brand I wanted. So a quick trip to the Retail Park today and I have a shiny, new laptop which works on the battery, doesn't overheat and stays in one piece :D I also bought the 0ffic£ software to go with it but, on checking the website, I think this should have come with. I'll call the shop tomorrow to check
    • Mr F treated me to a coffee whilst we were out
    • Sausages in Apple Gravy from the freezer for supper tonight
    • no spends from the entertainment budget for this weekend - there has to be some advantage to being a garage widow :rotfl:So £50 back into the budget.
Mr F has lit the log burner and opened a bottle of white so another cosy evening in is on the cards :)

Hope you enjoy the last of the weekend

Thought I would say hi, I have spent a lovely weekend reading your diary (with a couple of glasses of wine you are already getting me into bad/good habits). I find your writing really enjoyable and your attitude to life wonderful - I hope you don’t mind me borrowing a couple of your ideas.

Thanks again and I have subscribed
