Just wanted to let other NTL users know that my broadband speed is now three times faster and for nowt....
If you got to the ntlworld homepage and click the 'upgrade my speed' link in small writing on right of homepage, it takes you through a system check, then tells you which upgrades you can have and the associated pricing. I went from 300kps to 1Mb for the same pricing (£17.99 p/m)....a friend has just doubled up from 1Mb to 2Mb for the same price (£24.99p/m)

will they not eventually find out your speed and then ask you to start paying the correct price or even worse ask you to pay back from the date you upgraded?

It's free because people on broadband through their BT line have been getting better deals so NTL & Telewest have had to respond. Instead of reducing prices (& therefore income) they've increased the speeds.0

Are we not being automatically upgraded? Do we have to visit the site to upgrade to new speed?Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

frizz_head is right, ntl customers eventually will be automatically upgraded but you can go for the upgrade by going to the ntl site as stated. It doesn't cost any more on the subscription, and ntl are now selling these new speeds as standard (i.e. 1MB, 2MB and 3MB respectively).
There are new terms and conditions imposed on fair usage, especially for ex-300k (now 1MB) customers, capping your download usage to 3GB per month
2MB and 3MB customers are capped to 1GB per day - although there are rumours that this won't be enforced until later on in the year.

Ah yes, there's also a huge thread discussing this very subject in the Internet access forum that should answer all!0
